"If Kylo Ren could do that after taking that kind of hit...how in the fuck are they going to stop him when he's at one hundred percent?"

Answer: Shoot him with a bowcaster again.

SOOO frickin' lame.

A ground crew of 4 people and 8 x wings was enough for the win.

I've only seen it once but it didn't seem like the math added up for the small group of X-wings. We see the small number fly in - then over the next little bit see a bunch shot out of the sky. Then there is the comment 'We've lost half our X-Wings' or some such. Then more get blown up. At the end we see like 8 X-wings leave with the Falcon.

They talk about 3 squadrons so that would be closer to ~36 X-wings assuming close to 'old' SWU or more typical squadron sizes

So I am thinking maybe the small number flying in might be the result of time crunch or budget? (I mean it had a huge budget but its not limitless...)

Answer: Shoot him with a bowcaster again.

Well he would probably be less distracted than he was after killing his father so I would expect him to catch it like the sniper shot

Ah. So all we need to do then is distract him again and then hit him with a bowcaster a few times for good measure. Gotcha.

Pretty awesome...

Bad Lip Reading released an extended version of the song used at the end of their BLR Star Wars ep. IV video
Bushes of Love
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RySHDUU2juM
Yo Never knew my dad
He never cared about me
Dead Horizon is all my macro-Binoculars see
Moisture farming all my life and not a single drop spilt
My aunt and uncle double suns and sipping blue milk
My annt and uncle double suns I'm sick of blue milk

But then a desert Hobo came and told me....

We all got a chicken-duck-woman-thing waiting for us.
everyday I worry all day about what's waiting in the bushes of love.

He's not a Sith Lord, he's a Knight of Ren. When you look at the visual dictionary you get a close up view of the lightsaber. It explains it as an ancient design and the kyber crystal that is within it is cracked. Also when looking at it from a top down view, you will see that the cross guards are functional and you can not simply hit the corner of the hilt to chop them off. Ren hasn't fully bought into the darkside, which is why he's not as strong as he should be.

I'm a bit late on this thread so forgive me for going over something that may have been mentioned before but...

Ren recovered Vaders burnt helmet and some of his funeral ashes.

What's to say he didn't recover Vaders damaged lighsaber and that's the crystal he used to make his?

It would fit with his obsession.

Anyway I'll head back into the thread now!

They kind of over-did it, but I think that moment that Ren got hit didn't have the impact it should have (probably because it was right after a lame death scene). Earlier in the film Ren stops dead a laser round from a blaster, and we're pretty used to seeing Vader and such stop blasters with the force. Chewie isn't special, yet he hit Ren w/ his weapon... which means Ren was shook up enough from what just happened with Han to be completely unfocused and miss something he easily did earlier in the movie.

It was an important moment, but it wasn't really handled as such. It showed that maybe, just maybe he felt bad for killing his old man... but they just breezed right over it and got back to the action.

All you need is to find his other father for him to kill first
Ah. Well, they only have his mother but that's gotta be good for something.

Admit it: It's dumb and requires that we assume his father's death had that impact on him. They don't assume we know he was hit so they have him punch his wound over and over to draw attention to it. If they are that on-the-nose about the wound, why not the distraction?

I thought it was pretty obvious in the movie that it was quite an emotional moment for him. Easy to see why he would be distracted in that moment.

Why would you take a Sanitation Trooper on a high priority mission?

Commander: "Sir, we may have found the target that can provide us with the location of Skywalker".

Younger version of Gene Simmons look alike villian: "Put an elite team together of 3 10 man strike teams and meet me in bay 5527".

Commander: "You there trash man lets go".

Fin: "Me"?

Commander: "Yeah you, we need you to assist our elite crack team of commandos on a mission".

Fin: "All I do is clean bathrooms".

Commander: "Your qualified because Storm troopers can't shot for shit anyways".

Fins character is so believable.

What the hell do you think they'd do? Contract out to a janitor service and tell them to not tell anybody where they are?

oddly enough back then I don't think there were even Force Sensitive people, just people that believed vs non-believers like Solo.

Whats kinda funny in retrospect about Solo not believing in the force is that everyone in the galaxy knew of Jedi for at least thousands of years. Its hard to believe that no one would believe so soon after they were wiped out. Especially when there are still characters that lived through that time, like Jabba, or even closer to Han, Chewy. A lot of stuff doesnt quite add up if you remember what happens from movie to movie.

With the whole midichlorian thing, Lucas just wanted some way to quantify how powerful Anakin was, but I dont think there was a mention of how much an average person had. You could still make a case for it being something everyone could tap into, just not as much as others. I vaguely remember that midichlorians are somehow fundamental to life. It seems unlikely that Vader went around and killed every person that could use the force, just the Jedi. Even the Jedi wouldnt train everyone with potential, so there could have been lots of force sensitive people running around.

They wouldn't use their best of the best elite-mission-class troopers in sanitation. They'd be training or on missions.

Yeah but look at the crusades, jihads, etc...some just a few hundred years ago, but forgotten in most people's minds. People's memories get wiped pretty dang quick. Heck, we're running out of Holocaust survivors & the number of Holocaust deniers seems to be growing by the day

Eh? I think most people would assume that killing someone's own father would be distracting esp if it happens after a dialogue where the son is noting how he needs his dad to help him deal with an issue. The stated point of killing his father was to have an impact on him so it would make sense to be more focused (distracted) on the act and the immediate after effects on his own self. There are definitely some gaps in the movie but this one doesn't make the list IMO
