Ok it's a cool trailer but give us some damn good game footage.

How do they maintain the subtitle 'Old Republic' if it has nothing to do with the Old Republic?

Nothing in that trailer rules out an Old Republic storyline.

In fact, I would say that it pretty much confirms it. You've got Republic troopers, Mandalorian-esque Sith, a non-blowed up Alderaan. What more do you want?

You've got to remember that the galactic civilization depicted in the Star Wars films is incredibly ancient and the cycles of light/dark dominance and destruction/restoration of the Republic have occurred countless times. Couple this with extreme technological stagnation, and you've got the perfect recipe for constructing any number of original narratives without continuity problems.

Hm why did the rebels give up their positional advantage on the ridge to run into the trees where melee expert Sith were, no wonder they lost to the empire. And the main rebel guy can't keep a gun in his hands for 20 seconds before he throws it to the ground to charge someone

So they are fighting what Empire again? The Sith empire? Comprised of not true Sith. They are fighting Mandalorians? Then wouldn't the Republic be on their side? It is during the KoToR Sith War? Maybe, but then we all know how it ends, and it ends fairly quickly.

So, the only conclusion from a canonical standpoint is it is all new IP and will have a horrible story line to be "made' canon (The Force Unleashed style).

Please tell me again what Old Republic this is in again?

Why couldn't the new Star Wars trilogy movies have even a single battle scene like that is still beyond me to this day, trailers and scenes like those is one of the reasons why I think the Star Wars franchise still has much potential to be exploited on the big screen without Lucas having anything to do with it. Anyway, the game will be epic, too bad it's an MMO, I don't play MMOs, so I'll skip that one and wait until ME3 and DAO2 (I mean as far as BioWare is concerned).

Those "republic soldiers" look like mandalorians to me. Between their "republic commando" armor(thats just a copy of mandalorian armor anyways) and their "tanned look"(reminds me of Jango) you can bet on the republic troopers to be mandalorians in this game.

They are not as overpowered as you may think. The bounty hunter class is pretty fun as is the trooper. They have playable demos here at E3 so there should be some vids out tomm with actual gameplay.

from what i remember reading those silly star wars stories back in the day, the Sith were only around in large numbers during the Old Republic. It was after that when only a master and his one apprentice could ever exist together.

That was against the guy who can wipe out the entire Jedi Temple, though.

This trailer is a prequel to the previous E3 trailer with the Sith Lord (Darth Malgus, who gets his own novel soon) slicing through the Jedi in the Temple like a hot knife through butter.

Chronology:
events of KOTOR/KOTOR2 (several hundred years pass) ->
Sith Empire reappears (confirmed in recent TOR lore entry to be the true Sith menace Revan went to fight) ->
battle on Alderaan (new E3 trailer) ->
sacking of Jedi Temple (old E3 trailer, "Threat of Peace" webcomic) ->
time of actual game (25 years later)

Man if Bioware had the full funds of a lucas arts films they could make one hell of a Stars Wars Animated Movie.

The game, well i don't play MMOs but i might have to try it out... maybe they dark side will win me over.
