Good job to all that fought the good fight, and thanks to Coconuts. This was truly a good deal. Thanks OP.

So, I assume we need to send in an email to get them to credit each of us? Which email of the three that were provided should we use? You didn't need to send in a copy of your UPC did you?

Thanks a lot for all your work, I know I appreciate it and I'm sure everyone else does too. That goes to everyone who sent in emails to get this resolved.

Wow, not at all what I expected from this. Good for me, but I'd rather they changed the rebate terms.

So, I guess those who don't want to cut the box had better start writing...

Wow that's great news! Thank you Coconuts. I accidently submitted a few dozen messages when I was trying to send them feedback and their online form didn't seem to work. It turned out it was working because I found an equal number of replies in my inbox. I also received the $15 credit message so no more worries. Thanks Sanjoelo for sharing the deal with everyone.

I got a message next day that my order had shipped.

How should I contact them to get them to credit my card for $15? I requested that they reconsider the original UPC policy at their online message submission screen (maximum 200 words).

I'll try the online thing again and see what happens. I'll mention that I know they credited a number of other people. Edit: I did so, trying to be tactful.

I got the reject mail myself.

The second one I sent off pointed out they were already offering refunds to some people. So we'll see what happens.

How should I contact them to get them to credit my card for $15?

I told them I would like to return the DVD set if they didn't offer an alternative to cutting the precious box. You might mention that you know others who have been told they will receive a $15 credit in place of the rebate. Hope they help you with the credit. I wish they'd give us all the same deal, even if that means only changing the rebate to allow a copy of the UPC.
In the event they don't give the credit, I have a Amazon STL as backup for a few dollars more.

I did say exactly that. That I know people who were credited $15 and don't have to cut out their UPC and send it in. I asked them if they would do that for me as well. If they refuse, I'll bug 'em again, etc. until they come through. It would be hard for them to keep saying no when they've extended the very same courtesy to others. That would be very bad PR, right?

STL means what?

Another one, posted by thejester over at dvdtalk:

Here's the email response I got today from a parago rep -

Dear xxx:

Thank you for your rebate inquiry. We are pleased to inform you that you may send us a copy of the UPC barcode in place of the original and we will be happy to process the rebate for you. For your records, be sure to make a copy of your submission before placing it in the mail.

You should then receive your rebate per the terms and conditions listed on the coupon.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience. If there is anything else we can do to assist you, please contact us at rebates@parago.com. We are always happy to help.

Be sure to visit our website at www.RebatesHQ.com for future rebate opportunities.

Well, I'm going to give them 2 more days. If they don't reply by then I'm just going to return the DVD and buy it somewhere else.

Never mind. I was on the different topic than the rebate issue.

I just received their reply in less 12 hours. They asked me to be patient and wait for the shipment.

Hello xxxxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting coconuts.com.

This email is in response to your order #xxxxxx.

Item #40241573 from your order shipped via the United States

Please allow 3 to 10 business days for delivery.

If you have not received your products within the delivery time,
please submit a Lost Shipment claim on our website.

Again, we apologize for any delays.

Thank you for writing to us.

Oh, I'm not going to give up or be too prideful about this. I already got an email confirming that they shipped it. I'm convinced that they will waive the former requirement that I cut a hole in the box, that they will either outright credit my card for $15 or tell me I can send in a photocopy of the UPC. Maybe I have to deal with Parago to get that response (the post up the thread said it was Parago who said that). I'm sure these people want to project an image of having decent customer support. Denying people what they've not denied others would be terrible customer relations. They won't want to do that.

Who did you email and how? Coconuts at their online email facility? Or did you email them at a specific address with your email program?

Here's my attempt, will let you know how it goes:

--------------------------------------------

Greetings,

I recently ordered the 4 dvd Star Wars Trilogy set from you folks' website (Order #xxxxxxxxx). I have been talking with several of my friends, and all of us are upset about the UPC requirement for your rebate. In the past there has been a UPC sticker on the cellophane wrapper of such sets that could be submitted. One of the main selling points of this set is the long-term collectibility value. This value would be effectively destroyed by mutilating the box by carving out the UPC symbol.

Several of my friends have e-mailed you at this address and have received varying responses. One received a $15 credit to his credit card, several were told that a photocopy of the UPC along with a copy of their orders would be accepted. Another was basiclly told 'tough luck' and to send the original UPC from the box.

Obviously the credit is the easiest method, but I'm troubled that this is an issue at all! You guys should know that people are nuts about collecting all things Star Wars. Simpsons collectors are the same way, and you put the UPCs on external stickers for those rebates!

Also, obviously, if you insist that the original UPCs are required from the box you are going to be inundated with returns. Hopefully this will all work out smoothly for all of us.

I look forward to hearing from you on this matter.

Sincerely,

Nicholas _________
