@ desura

Have you considered that your tastes may have moved on? While I would agree that game design should evolve and improve over the years, if the game makers are looking to satisfy interest in a certain type of game, then that's what they're going to serve up, as long as there's interest for it.

Yeah.

Right now I probably enjoy watching IGN reviews of the latest games more than actually playing the games. Like, with the review you get the general idea of the game, without having to actually spend the time to play through it.

they are taking WAY too damn long for these expansions.

Of course, Valve never got around to those episodic releases for Half Life.

Wonder whats going on internally at Blizzard and Valve that seems to have derailed their episodic content.

Hum. My guess is that they're hiking the price in response to perceived changes in the gaming market. A lot of big name game labels must be wondering whether their approach will continue to work or whether they should be diversifying (thinking micro payments, mini games for a few pounds, etc).

It would be great if we received an updated gaming engine that takes proper advantage of multiple cores; I'd happily pay full price for it in that case (especially so if the change applied to all three games, which I'd guess it would have to).

I came across this:
http://www.idigitaltimes.com/heart-...cks-blizzard-ruins-starcraft-ii-report-352334

IMO most games have pretty weak plots, but in terms of actual plot holes, the one not mentioned and to me makes absolutely no sense is that (in HotS),
Arcturus could have charged the artifact for when Kerrigan and her forces made landfall and wiped them all out in one go! Except the primal zerg and Raynor.

they shifted a bunch of the starcraft team to heroes & hearthstone, and possibly to help the diablo expansion as well. with the quasi folding of titan, they restocked themselves.

I'm surprised that LotV has reached the pre-order stage and yet there's still no trailer available that is vaguely informative about the plot of this game, or one that doesn't involve heavy amounts of vocal / visual recycling from older games.

Trailer is poor by Blizzard standards. Previous trailers have been much better.

They probably cut the funding since it is not that lucrative anymore.

I played WOL back in the day, but didn't buy HOTS because of the always online DRM. Oh and the fact Blizzard never sells their games on special.

The only way I'd ever buy HOTS or LOTV is if they removed that DRM and had them on special for like 5 bucks. I just refuse to pay 60 bucks for something like that.

The starcraft and diablo games have been on sale numerous times over the last couple years.

What do you mean?

I just started HotS with my Internet connection disabled, apart from it complaining about being in offline mode and that my achievements in single-player campaign not being available, it knew what maps of the campaign I had played before.

The community for this game has pretty much died.

Unfortunately, the online game play has WAY too steep of a learning curve, which makes the game almost unplayable for newbies. You can only play SP or games against bots for so long before you give up and go on to something else.

Those that are learning can crawl around at the bottom of Bronze. Might run into some smurfs but should get same games of people of similar skill. I think the the true reason is that there much more choices of games to play now than there was when the original Starcraft was released.

That's the entire problem I had with this series and why TA was always a better game. They intentionally designed the mp for the twitchy response time crowd with as short as possible total game time. Ill take one of my 2 hour matches of going ultra turtle any day over that crap.

The same people claiming SC2 was a flop are likely the same people claiming D3 was a flop. Just because YOU didn't like it doesn't mean it was a flop.

To be honest I had completely forgotten about SCII, I guess Blizzard don't want people to buy games anymore, just more WoW subs.

SCII was never as good as SC1 and never will be in my book, just like (sa an above poster mentioned) D3 was never going to be as good as D2, they started big and could only go downhill from there.

There were plenty of games back then that were RTS in the same strain as SC. Warcraft, Age of Empires, Total Annilation, Command and Conquer, the list goes on.

People like to say RTS is dead, and its kind of true. Today RTS is different and contains many more elements than just classic Warcraft approach we've abandoned.

I check Steam every once in a while, and I can't find nothing like SC2/AOE2...other than re-releases.

Could not give a (Pro)toss.

The cutscenes from Blizzard of late have been rather... lacking compared to their more ancient counterparts, no?

Same.

I don't like the storyline anymore and I don't like how they butchered UMS maps with WoL. Starcraft was my fav game from 1998-2010. RIP in peace old friend :'(

Back to world of warships :awe:

Given the expectations of the publisher and how the gaming world around the product has dried up, I think it's pretty damn close to being in flop territory.
