The middle of the campaign sagged and the ending was bad.

I am getting in to the middle now and I agree. The mission requirements seem silly and getting the bonus goals is often a hassle as the main objectives seem to fulfill themselves sometimes. But I'm glad the campaign is a little more complex than simply "slaughter your enemy". Theres plenty of time for that in the skirmish.

Im on the 6th or 7th mission of the campaign...does this get any better? So far I am not at all impressed, where is this "amazing single player experience" Ive been reading about? This campaign is boring as fuck, I have really enjoyed the three back to back missions that were nothing but mining resources...

uh oh i have 2 missions left

i really enjoyed the last few missions. they were more challenging than many that came before. sometimes the maps are setup that the AI leaves you alone for too long. i was able to mass a huge force and just walk across the map.

i wonder how much harder "brutal" is compared to "hard"

They really should have left out easy and normal. That's IMO. It should be Hard, Brutal, and then Korean Pro-League (lmao). Anything less is gonna be too easy - and hence - boring.

Man battle.net options are all screwed up since launch. Can't add friends, or if they try to add you does not show up. Read ID IS BROKEN. Not only is it broken, its ON BY DEFAULT. wtf blizzard.

You have to enable parental controls to turn off real ID? Assuming they actually get it to work, why would parents want people to see real names by default? wow that was a fail if i ever seen one.

The game is fun, but this integrated into battle.net is just stupid stupid stupid. I think i'm actually going to get the cracked on on bit torrent just to remove that stuff.

For those still trying to build their system around SC2, here is the first GPU/CPU benchmark review I found that's out:
http://www.techspot.com/review/305-starcraft2-performance/

Too bad this game doesn't utilize more than a dual core cpu, a game like this would benefit a lot if it used at least a quad core...

I wonder how well my system can play this game, or even if it can play it. I meet the min requirements hehe. Anyone care to shoot me a guest pass?? :-D

It does benefit from quad core. All my cores are active when playing it.

Plus, my "lowly" gtx 260 core 216 defaults everything to highest settings at 1900x1200 and runs fine without any slowdowns. So you don't need go by that chart for the most part.

That doesn't mean it's using them though. Computers have lots of overhead. This game seems to like big memory and memory cache.

Alright, I've finished playing my 7 hours limit of the trial (thanks again Barack Obama for giving me a guest pass). I've exclusively spent those 7 hours playing the campaign, I didn't want to touch/spoil anything else. First, I must say that I am extremely surprised that Blizzard basically offers the full game to try it for 7 hours, rather than doing the usual when it comes to trials and demos and just cut about 80% of a game and let us not being able to appreciate it enough, while I thought that seven hours was short at first I must say that now that it's finished I've certainly been able to make up my mind about it.

My conclusion is quite simple so far, it's a good game, and no I'm not surprised about that, Blizzard has that tendency to make good games, but I am pleased by the result, I hadn't played the original StarCraft in years (I still own it to this day, along with Brood Wars), I never really cared much about the multi-player, but I did care about the single-player and the game's story line, it was a very well told story back in the days, it was pretty much unheard of for an RTS game (with the slight exception of the original Command & Conquer during that same time period). And so far I like how the story is presented in StarCraft II.

It certainly looks like Wings of Liberty is indeed focused on the Terrans, and from what I've been able to do in the campaign after seven hours things seem to pick up at a nice pace, not too fast, not too slowly either, it's just a good progression of events, most of them linked between themselves and the "main" matter that needs to be dealt with (I won't spoil anything important don't worry). As some mentioned before, and yes now I realize it indeed, is that there's a taste of or inspiration from the Mass Effect back-to-the-Normandy-and-talk-around concept there, but not quite a direct copy of it, it's more subtle, more controlled by Blizzard and the story telling, but still, it's nicely done, it allows us to feel closer to and/or become sympathetic with/for certain characters, it makes the campaign more compelling, at least for me.

It's satisfying, and I am now thinking that I will buy it, but not until I do have the money for it that is, I have no problem with the price to be honest, I can afford it and in terms of principles... well, I think it's worth that much, even if it comes from a company that can send all their employees swimming in money, I know, but hell, it's Blizzard and I like them, a lot, and they took the time to let people like me try the game, the full game at that, via guest passes, to help us make up our minds about it, and it works, I wouldn't have considered to buy it at all had I not had the chance to play it as much as I did (seven hours almost non-stop, I very rarely do that to this day), and I thank them for doing that, and my way to ultimately give my thanks will be to buy it, perhaps next month when I am more financially comfortable (I haven't bought a "big budget" $60 game in months).

I'm not even remotely interested by the multi-player at this point, but I know that I will give it a try, but now that my play time is over I still got those events of the campaign fresh in my mind and since it unfolds almost like a movie (and similarly to how it's told in Mass Effect 2) then all I want is more of it, I want to see what happens next, and for me that's the sign of a well-crafted game with a worthy campaign. If anyone else here was like me and doubt about the game, then do what you can to get your hands on a guest pass, download the client and give the game a try, I assure you that at least, the very least, its campaign will interest you enough to keep playing it until the end.

I say good job Blizzard, StarCraft II will fill up the painful gap until Diablo III comes out.

Normal web surfing like now I'm using %2 cpu when playing sc2 its %50 up and down on all cores. Hardly overhead

Its too bad they took out all those units for MP. After playing SP it seems that MP is extremely shallow.

Less stuff is easier to balance, but man, its like you've only got half the game, even less when you think about all the upgrades and stuff.

As has been mentioned a dozen times already, you make custom maps with the included editor and play them. When you pick a map instead of selecting Melee, select Custom.
Done.

I assume you mean hercules? :hmm:
Yeah, its really good.

I realize I could make maps and add them back, but I just think it would have been cooler if they were all there by default.
As someone else said, maybe more units will be integrated back into MP as they release the other 2 segments.

I happen to love real ID. I can play sc, and still chat with my brother. Only problem with it is that I cannot pretend I'm not at the computer when playing sc2... he can see me still!

Uhh why the fuck wouldn't real ID be on by default. You do NOT have to add somebody to real ID in order to put them on a friends list. It's an option for the people that like to stay in contact across games which usually means you've known them for awhile anyway. If you're that paranoid, then you have the option to disable. For god's sake people, you give your real name to a dozen people every day.

Actually, no, I dont.
When some stranger walks up to me and asks my name I tell him to state his business or leave me alone. And I dont give my name to doctors/dentists until I'm sure I wanna use their services.
The only people even less in need of my personal info are jokers online that interact with me for 10-20 minutes at a time.
But you are correct, on Bnet I am not required to give out my info.

Since you did not read my post, ill elaborate in number format so its easier to understand.
1. No parent wants kids names to be broadcast by default
2. Real ID is BROKE, as in you can't turn it off even if you un-click it.
3. If you known them for awhile, why would real ID matter anyways..if you know them they should know your battle.net info for the start.
4. Your kids give real name to dozens of people every day?

Its not about being paranoid, its common freakin sense that blizzard lacked in putting it in game. Or not putting it in game correctly i should say. Especially all the hoopla over it when they announced it, they still managed to muck it up at launch.

A YES or No asking if you want it on during game start should remove everything dealing with real ID. But they mucked it up.
