whoa. I love ChessCraft (well, except for the somewhat frequent bugs)
It's like battlechess, I think? (Never played the original; too young.)

Crushing noobs at chess was never so fulfilling. Everyone I've run into so far has been terrible; it's fantastic.

I have noticed a large increase of people leaving at the start of the games. I find that it kind of works in our favor as their minerals goes to us allowing us to fast rush and early macro.

some people use it as a strat, since they get credit if you win the game after they leave.

Can someone explain to me how to do a proper 6 pool rush against a 1.1 insane AI?

I know you harvest minerals w/ your 6 drones and then build your pool when u have 200 min.

While the pool is building, I build 2 more workers, and then just wait for the pool to finish to pump out 6 lings. When they are about to hatch, I start getting all my workers up to the AI's base and my lings are usually right there w/ them too.

But I can't seem to make the AI quit or get the upper hand. They pump out so many marines and their workers + marines kill my lings + drones way too easily.

I use the 6 pool spine crawler rush instead. Placement of the crawlers is the key.

Yeah, I would do that if I set the AI to zerg, but I set them to terran due to the fact that I choose random. This way, if I do win, it counts as one win for random race and whatever race I actually get. If I get protoss, then I can cannon rush a lot easier on Terran compared to a Zerg AI due to no creep boundaries.

So anyone else have suggestions on how to 6 pool rush an Insane Terran AI?

edit: Ok so i read on the sc2 forums, someone mentioned to build an extractor to keep the scvs busy. That worked pretty well. I just kept canceling and rebuilding so as to keep at 6 scvs busy trying to kill it. It bought me enough time to get the lings over there and kill their base w/o the scvs on my back. Constant ling reinforcements and it's a sure victory.

Wow this thread is dead. Did everyone stop playing SC2? lol.

Patch 1.1.1 is out now right? Thought they said it was rolling out today, but I hadn't seen anything yet this morning.

I think everyone uses the multiplayer thread now. Maybe that one should be the sticky

Been trying to do the 4v4 with iNSANE ai. If you don't knock one out quick, they produce so much the game becomes unplayable.

Yeah, I did it with the spine crawler rush cheese, just to get my achievements.

Two things;

1. Is there a way to view all the ladders/leagues and who is in them or can you only view the ladder that you are in?

2. Are there any known problems with SC2 and certain video cards or current video card drivers? My friends computer (Q6600, 4gb, 8800GTX, 780i) keeps crashing while trying to play SC. CPU and GPU are not overheating and he gets fine frame rate. He has trying playing at different graphics settings but it will always crash and its always random. Sometimes he crashes over and over and sometimes he can go for 3 or 4 games before crashing.

Our sysmtes are pretty much the same except I am using an 8800GT and I have no problems, the only other difference is that I am still using an old nVidia driver pack, 196.21, he is using the latest.

1. I think the best place to view all the different ranks/ladders/leagues would be www.sc2ranks.com

2. What kind of crashes? I will say that my i7-930 OCed system is pretty much 100% stable except for SC2. On some rare occasions, I will get BSOD's with SC2 using a Sapphire Radeon HD5850 ATI 10.8 drivers. No other games have crashed on my system.

That is pretty close to what happens to his computer when it crashes, he will then be forced to reboot. We assumed it was the video card and got a replacement through evga but the new one does the same thing. I just found this aparent blizzard issued fix for graphics card issues, so maybe we will try it;

Screens that are light on detail may make your system overheat if cooling is overall insufficient. This is because the game has nothing to do so it is primarily just working on drawing the screen very quickly. A temporary workaround is to go to your Documents\StarCraft II Beta\variables.txt file and add these lines:

frameratecapglue=30

frameratecap=60

SC2GG runs a weekly Starcraft 2 competition that anyone is welcome to join.
They do an NA one on Tuesdays and EU one on Wednesdays.

North America:
http://sc2gg.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12879

Tuesday, October 5th at 8PM Eastern Time (EDT)

http://srv04.datona-1.com/~admin699/weekly/NA_rankings.html

Europe:
http://sc2gg.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12831 (Last weeks tournament)

Tuesday, October 6th at 8PM CET (7PM UK time) will be the next one.

http://srv04.datona-1.com/~admin699/weekly/EU_rankings.html

Signups are open until about 5 minutes before it starts, and then brackets go up.
#sc2gg is the general IRC channel, #sc2gg-weekly for the weekly channel, both on Gamesurge.

Anyone is welcome to join (you don't need to hang around on IRC). Any skill level is welcome. Not everyone is Diamond (in fact many people are not).
Some games are streamed with commentary, and sometimes there are VODs done from replays after the games.

It's all in the name of fun, not a serious competition (although you do get points for playing and doing well, there's an overall leaderboard).

Usually there are at least 16 players per tournament (although NA gets more at the moment). The more players, the merrier. Feel free to sign up and play!
The only prizes (at the moment) are props and having some fun playing SC2.

Anyone who might be interested feel free to sign up (it's free and just casual). I play in the EU one, but usually we barely manage more than 16 players, so we need more numbers!

You'll be able to run it, but Im not sure how enjoyable it will be. SC2 benefits greatly from a dual core processor and a single core will have trouble keeping things going as more units are created.

Im still using am x1950 pro agp, but everything is pretty much on low settings and at 1440x900. I recently "upgraded" to an x2 5000 from a single core 3700 but even then my frame rates drop below 30 during gameplay. If you want smooth gameplay, its time to upgrade.

Edit: Also your vid card (and mine) aren't very suitable for gaming any longer. Upgrading from my single core to dual didn't increase my frame rates much in any of the older games released 5 years ago.

Been trying to get all the achievements for the custom games. I did all but one that requires you to beat the AI 10 times. I checked the last one (finish all the others) to see what it said and realized that the other one keeps going until you win 100 games. I'm not going to grind that out, especially since they took away the backwards completion.

Backwards completion was never taken out.

I'm working on the custom achievements right now as well, and I completed 100 games of 1v1 Insane AI and it all trickled down to medium.

I've been traveling for some time now and budget is broken. But with everything at low do you think I can maintain 30 fps? (you play better multiplayer at low settings anyway)
