OK, just for shits and giggles I ran it again and got the new patch. Major health changes to many buildings.
ALSO: Did you guys see the new tech requirement for Barracks?
Thats right, now you need to have a supply depot before you can build one.

How do you guys feel about that, especially considering how easy it is to rush with Zerglings already?

Doesn't really change anything for me at all. I almost never went rax before depot to begin with before the change and will just continue to do 10depot 12 rax and be fine against zerglings except for small maps where I might cut gas at 13 to make a quick wall if I scout a problem.

One funny thing that happened because of the depot change is that now you can build a rax and the rest of the tech tree even if your CC gets destroyed.

Building rax before supply was *never* a good idea. Which is why I feel like Blizzard should've left it in--if someone wants to do a shitty strat, who are we to stop them? I had a game the other day where my partner's build order was (i shit you not): scv, rax, supply, bunker, scv. wtf.

Also VRs seem to have gotten quite a hit too. The damage was cut by a shitload at full charge & they've been slowed down a bit. I guess maybe people will stop spamming VRs now? Also not really a desirable outcome--VR spam is another terrible strategy... gotta let the shitty players stay shitty.

I feel a little sad about the medivac slowdown. 2.5 is barely faster than the ground units at 2.25. That said they're still tough little fuckers so probably won't matter.

It's not hard to stop zerling rushes as terran, even with rax requiring depot.

Its not hard to stop pretty much any rush as terran.

OK, what about Baneling rush?
Depots cant survive a bane hit, but barracks could.
Or is that why they added some health to depots?

nah the depot health change doesn't do much. 5 banlings killed a depot before, now the depot will be at 5 health and die to a zergling or fire dmg.

and banelings can't be "rushed" really, by the time they can go baneling you should have spotted it and be able to make something to fight them.. If you see banelings being made a tank is a good counter or just start making a "fat wall" where you just keep making buildings at the wall. Factories, rax etc and just make it so they can't break it without a ton of banelings.

Baneling rush still isn't hard to stop, and also isn't even really a rush.

Not to mention 5 banelings cost 50*3+5*25=275 min and 125 gas, all to snipe one or two supply depots, after which your superior army should be able to take care of zerg's remaining army

Terran vs baneling bust is one of those things you'll lose to a few times and then you'll never lose to again. Wall with barracks/factory and throw a bunker behind the supply depot and you are 100% baneling proof. If the zerg has already committed to the bust (by cutting drones usually to have enough speedlings to followup) then you instantly win.

Do all official maps have small choke points? I remember in SC1 you had to make a tight base with defenses since there was no chokepoint to defend getting into your base.

No, official maps have a mix or large and small ramps/choke points.

I don't remember seeing a 1v1 map with a large choke point. I know that 2v2 and higher do have maps with large choke points though, but not 1v1.

Steppes of War (nat has a wide ramp)
Blistering Sands (back door)

what would cause this? I got DCed from b.net today and after that, i haven't been able to connect to anything related to blizzard. (websites, battle.net, blizzard.com, wow, etc) It all times out.

All other internet functions work fine. I tried releasing/renewing IP, flushing dns, restarting, tried my laptop. Nada.

Wonder what would cause just blizzard sites to not connect.

Just started playing SC2; just finished the fourth mission. The dancing night elf female in the cantina was a nice suprise. Lol.

Unless you fast expand, by the time you get to your Nat, you should have enough defensive force to protect it without having to wall in. The wall in is just to prevent an early zerg rush, giving you some time to tech up for a more lethal defensive force.

Scrap Station is the only one that has a big opening to your base, though the zerg has to go all the way around.

I didn't know the question was about walling in, haha. Just thought it was about large chokes.

What secret stuff you discovered during the campaign(not counting the secret mission that is)? I only found a tauren during the third mission(you have to hold the zerg for 30 mins or so). I got some message with secret found and that was it.

Is SC2 freezing upon getting to the login screen?

I noticed battle.net website is down as well.

I've never had SC2 freeze up on me at the login screen, but it's doing it right now. Wonder if it has to do with anything regarding the downed website.

edit: well seems a minute after i posted this, the website came back up and my sc2 login stopped freezing, so it must have had something to do w/ the servers not being online or something.
