They include full multiplayer with each game, however they have insinuated that new units will be added to single and multiplayer with each new campaign.
Additionally, I don't know how mostly everyone seems to miss this, but with the new Battle.net they are allowing map developers to charge for maps, like iTunes for maps. So to play any popular maps you better be ready to fork over some cash.
If it gets rid of foolish people playing stupid maps like Zero Clutter, Fa$test Map Po$$ible, $$$Big Game Hunters$$$, and the like I'm all for it.
I don't care about playing popular maps.
It wouldn't get rid of that, and those maps would cost money.
However is more accurate to compare the maps to Warcraft 3, Blizzard is looking for a way to skim money off of really popular games like TD's and DotA.
Good.
And to all of you bitching about no LAN play, Blizzard has this little server invention thing called BATTLE.NET. You connect to it, there's a chat lobby, you can find all of your friends, host games, join games, and many other things. Why do you need LAN play? The only reason that I can see for anyone to absolutely need LAN play is if they're too cheap to afford multiple copies of the game and want to have a single copy running on multiple machines, which is EXACTLY what blizzard is trying to get rid of. If you want to play with your friends, have them buy their own copy and connect to Battle.net. What's so hard about that?
Good?
So the system of free maps has been broken all this time?
I don't mind searching through all the crappy clones to find the gems if it means I can try them out for free. I'm almost betting there's no way to try out the maps first before paying for it and I don't want to subsidize crappy map making.
Been watching streams all night - pretty nice.
Really wish I was actually playing though.
You obviously know absolutely nothing about Blizzard. They are not going to half ass any game that they put out, let alone one that's been in planning for over ten years. What in the hell kind of nonsense are you babbling about console ports? Blizzard is one of the top PC developers and hasn't released a console game in 15 years, what makes you think that they are going to "cave into the pressure from console ports" and release a sub par game?
To those of you who are "boycotting" SC2 because of these pre-planned expansion packs, good riddance.. Less idiots to deal with in game. They are obviously trying to make SC2 an epic game by releasing each race's campaign separately so they can have a huge amount of content in each race's campaign, not just to rip you off. Blizzard is one of the few PC developers left that is in the business of making great games instead of trying to make as much money as they can with as little effort as possible (like Infinity Ward).
Comparing CoD to anything that Blizzard releases is just ridiculous. Infinity Ward has been porting their PC games from consoles since CoD2. Blizzard has never and probably will never do this.
