I tried going air for the last few missions, but it didn't work well.

I found that simple roach/hydra was much simpler to control as well as sturdier and more effective.

I bought it at Go2Arena . The contest for HOTS will end soon, so I hope to win Collector's Edition For now - I like it!

Playing through the missions now, got to the one with the 3 primal bosses. Trying to use other units in these fights seem pointless, I just mirco'd Kerrigan. Guess I don't have the APM to keep track of so many units in the boss fights. Do any of you bother with other units in the boss fights?

In the mission with the aircraft that bombs your base and the scourge nests, what was the obj to get Kerrigan extra levels? I was too busy trying to spread creep to hear and find whatever it was.

The big mistake that novice players make is that they feed small 20-30 armies and get wiped out. Then they repeat and have an awful time. Then they find themselves out of minerals/get overwhelmed and lose.

In any 'destroy all bases' level, do the following:

1. Quickly saturate your mineral patch. It comes out to 3 drones per 1 mineral. The hatcheries have a drone count on top now (18/24 for example). Faster economy = win.

2. Find a second base asap (within 3-5 mins). 1 base is never enough. Ideally you want your third base soon once you get your army going.

3. Find a healthy balance between building nothing but drones first and having the most minimal army to fend off any enemy attacks or fulfilling timed objectives.

4. Get your upgrades while droning up and continue fending off with minimal army. Get your upgrades to 2-2 ideally before you start attacking.

5. Due to this efficient base building from 1-4 above, you will be stockpiling minerals very fast (1500-4000+).

6. By then you should have 3~ bases with another 2 macro hatcheries (5-6 hatcheries total). This will help you BURST into 200/200 army.

7. Steamroll with your 200/200 army. You don't want anything less than 150-160 army. This massive force is irrecoverable from the enemies perspective. Due to your mineral stockpile + multiple hatcheries, you burst back into 200/200 ASAP if they're beaten down to 150~.

8. This is where Hydras completely mitigate their weakness of being frail and end up being the perfect unit through numbers. Traditionally you want some support to go with it, but in HotS, Kerrigan is so fucking OP, she alone can support the little need Hydras may have (she 1-shots Siege Tanks from afar, and her AOE stun is stupid strong). They're just so fucking ridiculous in sheer ranged DPS, no one dies.

that doesn't sound very fun.

Exactly what I thought.

But I can understand the thinking behind this tactic though and it sure feel effective as hell but sound boring and linear and yeah, boring.

I don't do multiplayer matches so I don't really care about using the best strategies and just do what I want to do and have fun killing stuff in the campaigns.

F#&! this moronic Battlenet DRM. Locks my account cause I'm logging in from another location. Of course they're idiots and can't be like Steam and anticipate users logging in from multiple locations and have a system in place specifically for that. This is the 3rd time I've logged in from here and it's the 2nd time they've locked my account. I am sick of resetting my password...

Seriously, why can't I just add specific machines to a whitelist and be done with it?

It's not moronic - they started doing this because they were forced to. You wouldn't believe the sheer ridiculous amount of attempted b.net hacks that have been attempted. This mostly started with WoW, and Blizzard carrying the policies into their subsequent games. Many people I know have had their WoW accounts hacked, so with thousands of people constantly complaining to Blizzard that they need to increase their security, it's no surprise that they implemented as many security measures as possible.

Winning the game ISNT very fun. Its work. And you dont get paid.
Playing for fun is becoming a lost art.

Thats probably why I keep going back to Warhammer. Win or lose, everyone enjoys themselves.

So why don't they just let me add my 2nd machine/location into a whitelist so it doesn't lock my account every time I try to log in from it? I'm not saying they need to remove DRM, I'm saying that their system is moronic compared to competitors.

I pre-ordered this game so I've been waiting for the launch... I have to say I'm slightly disappointed and slightly surprised.

I didn't really care for new units but I'm liking them so far. They really improved Zerg. However the story so far is not good (5 missions in?) and the scenarios you're fighting for don't really fit in the sense that
Kerrigan is just so determined to kill Mengsk, even before he states on the news Raynor was captured and killed. It makes sense now, but why was she so determined before that? Should have listened to Raynor and let it go, especially if she is SO in love with him
. In WoL I thought each mission had a very good purpose, but in this game
you're just going to locations to collect large armies of the swarm to kill Mengsk?
. Hopefully I'm not far enough in and it gets better, but so far a let down.

Finished the game yesterday during my weekend. The game got better but nothing awesome. Overall I'd rate it a 7/10.

The improvements to the controls are amazing though. They needed these a long time ago (like defaulting the workers to start mining right away).

I've logged in from multiple locations and machines and have gotten the reset password/locked account thing too. However, after going through the password reset a few times, it eventually remembered my systems/locations.

Perhaps you need to just give it some time to remember your personal systems/locations.

And yes, I agree, it's very annoying.

Blame the hackers. It didn't used to be this way, but people's WoW accounts were being stolen and the gear sold on eBay. Blizzard was forced into this model. Its the same reason they now have the authenticator, which I placed onto my account the day it was available.

I understand his frustrations. It's rather annoying that Blizzard forces you to change your password regardless of whether or not there was an intrusion or it was just a false positive. I had it happen to me once when I traveled back to New York, and I'm not the type that prefers to change passwords.

Yeah me either. I wouldn't get so annoyed but Steam has a perfectly good system in place for logging in from multiple locations, so you'd think a company like Blizzard could think of one as well.

Mass self-reviving ultralisks with damage splash bonus or life leech and 1A to victory. Im disappointed by SC2 storyline.. Its like as if Blizzard have lost their groove. The only thing they have going in there way is the cinematics.

Lol. They pit marines against your siege tanks or something?

My strategy (which fails as often as it succeeds, but I don't care) is to make my starter base a planetary fortress, then build no military units whatsoever until Battle Cruisers. Then I just pump those out exclusively, sometimes I'll have one Raven follow them to detect invisibles.

When it works it's fun, and it's the same strategy I've used since 1998.

It's similar, frankly, to what I would do in Age of Empires 1 before that...

I am not gifted at strategy games, at all. I have my little dose of fun by doing silly, stupid strategies, and I'm okay with getting my ass handed to me a lot.

If I told you about what I did in WarCraft III you'd get a laugh... but that's a tale for another day.

Ahh Warcraft III. Now that's the last game that Blizzard produce when it wasn't whored out by Activision.

WIII was fun as hell. Good storyline.
