The DLSS guy charges for his mods and I think it's a subscription service not a one time payment. It does suck that it's amd sponsored for those with Nvidia cards but I've been reading that it may be less buggy.

Have you received the game from AMD yet or just the AMD Rewards code? I know of nobody who has received the game from AMD yet.

I'm in the same boat. No actual game key yet...

In 2020 I did some builds for myself and family, and pocketed all the game keys. Come to find out when I tried to claim Starfield that AMD associates a limit to how many redemptions you can have to your account. Had to fight with them and send two e-mails to correct this. First one they just didn't up the limit as they said they would, the second time it worked.

After the myriad verification settings and repetitions of entering the game code (which by now is half memorized), I'm told to wait until I get the steam key. Makes me feel better that I'm not the only one at this point...

Eh, it's probably part of the marketing budget. I'm inclined to agree with you though -- I'd rather they put as much time/resources into making the actual game play loops engaging.

That is expected, you can't have infinite resources depending on the size of each planet just automatically load in. No man's sky also forced you to open to manually use the map to travel to another zone.

I'm going to try to avoid all the spoilers while I'm on vacation.

Yeah, I got the premium as well. I don't know if I got an email but I read last night the keys went out and I got mine early this morning. Just had to log into steam via the rewards site and let amd add the game.

Steam just had a big message on my library screen at start up mentioning the pre-load.

I remember seeing an article stating that AMD wont be locking out DLSS from the game but it's been now confirmed that DLSS won't be supported and the blame is put on Bethesda lol.

Pretty sure it will perform on pc similar to other titles that didn't support DLSS like Jedi survivor, Callisto protocol, etc. So I'm expecting performance to be choppy on pc unless you have an amd card.

Also not sure how accurate these are but 54 fps for a 4080 at 4k. If my 4090 has issues with this game I'll be pretty bummed. FSR is going to make it blurry most likely. Also it does not to use any high end effects or ray tracing.

PureDark has released a FSR2 replacement plugin for DLSS2 & XeSS, it's not the full featured version but it is free.

My favorite game reviewer on YouTube spoke pretty highly of it, didn't mention any performance issues and he doesn't hide any problems with games when he reviews them.

With a 4090 on ultra settings he said it looks beautiful and runs at 60 fps and about 78-80 if enabling FSR. He says the story interested him and it wasn't boiler plate although the introduction to the game was longer than he expected for a Bethesda game. The ship building and customization is really awesome and offers a lot of freedom. The game offers a lot to explore on each planet and can even be spooky at times.

I think he also talks about how fun it was to try to keep a ship alive in combat while you try and dock to it, then make your way inside, take everyone out one by one and then take over the ship and make it your own to do what you want with it. The only cons he saw were that some main characters were not as interesting and the npc's in the planets where you have big cities were not as detailed as main characters.

He mentioned he usually moves on to other titles that he reviews in his backlog but he played this one for an additional 30hrs after finishing it for his review. I won't get to try it until the 13th but sounds pretty exciting assuming he's right about performance.

It's tough to run on PC. Nvidia and Intel both have issues. We have seen it many times before with vendor sponsored titles.

Jeez 45-50 fps at 1080p ultra without FSR on a 6700 XT. A lot better than the 3060 Ti though. Game looks ugly as hell too. Ugh and I put money in my Microsoft account for Game Pass for this.
