I am a big Stargate fan, have all the seasons apart from SGU season 2. And I've watched them all more than once. But the worst of all things that happened was the end of SGA. I only have 2 words for the abomination "Wormhole Drive" I mean, WTF?!?!?!?! It seemed like SGA was going along fine, then they said "Right then, erm...... You've got to wrap this whole thing up in 2 episodes. Good luck" Ruined it.
SG-1 > SGA >>>>>>>> SGU (although it got better in season 2)

Thats kinda what happened. I think SciFi decided mid season to not renew SGA. And like Pheran said they were supposed to continue it in movie form like SG1, but that didn't happen either.

It definitely wasn't the most graceful ending. But it could have been worse. It didn't end on a massive cliffhanger, and we got to see the Atlantis fight in space like a proper spaceship.
Do you remember the drinking game "Hi, Bob"? Watching Bob Newhart, everyone had to drink whenever a character said "Hi, Bob" which was quite often, lol!
I think this game could be adapted to SG1, whenever Carter says "Sir...." or maybe even "With all due respect..."
You're pretty much guaranteed to be hammered by the end of any episode!
I loved SG-1, liked Atlantis, Universe was a Battlestar Galactica wannabe with horrible writing. The actors were decent, but the plot and script was just... *barf*. But I kept watching it, right up to the end, hoping it would pull itself together, and occasionally there'd be a decent episode where I'd get hopeful.. and then it got put out its misery.
Fuck Universe. It's perfectly fair to say it isn't even part of Stargate, it's a completely different type of show.
I don't understand all the hate for Ben Browder though. Sure he was no RDA, but he was solid. There were some fine episodes in seasons 9 and 10. I'll easily name season 7 as my favorite though.

I liked the Ori arc. It was good to finally have a different antagonist and helped create a good bridge to SG:A (of which I still haven't gotten around to finishing... I really need to).
I'll admit the Ori were a little one-noted, at least with the G'ould they could keep diving deeper and deeper into their history and culture and different personalities. With the Ori it was just straight-up religious crusade for the most part.
That said, I liked the fact that the Ori were effectively invincible, it lent them a real sense of dread. Even in Season 1 SG-1 takes on the G'ould, who are this incredibly advanced and powerful alien race, and beats them in a head to head fight. They establish that our weapons (at least small arms and explosives), are effective even if we can't really counter their ships, and that the G'ould are so arrogant that they can be easily taken advantage of.
The Ori, however, well you can kill some nameless foot soldiers, but as for the Priors and people who really matter, you're just fucked no matter what you do. They're arrogant, but unlike the G'ould they can back it up. Not to mention that episode where
five of their ships wiped out an entire fleet of Hataks, an Asguard ship, and the two Earth Battlecruisers without breaking a sweat.
The Ori really present a sense of "oh shit" dread that I never quite got with the G'ould outside of Anubis. They could have done better, but they were good enough villains.

I just think the writing wasn't as good for the last two seasons. While they had some good episodes, the whole holy grailesque quest was a bit too corny.
Whats kinda funny is I never liked Claudia Black. Not in Pitch Black, or even the first time I tried to watch Farscape. Always seemed so pissed off. But in SG1 she was flirty, funny and conniving, and in Uncharted she was even better. Now I'm a fanboy.

Did you ultimately watch Farscape through completion, or could never get into it?
The show itself took some time to hit its groove and force you to accept how crazy the premise was, and in that time, Claudia's character also grew on me. It took time for all the characters to really become something more.

Yeah I watched it all after the first SG1 season with Browder and Black. I remember the first time I tried to watch it the puppets, Black, the blue chick and that Worf wannabe were off-putting. Put once I started to like Browder and Black, and I had some friends saying Farscape was good, I plowed through the first season and it turned out to be pretty good.
