Start button messed up?

I am having a problem with my Start button going weird. Sometimes after coming back off of standby, sometimes after switching back to desktop after running an application or game. It is just screwy colors, cant read the "Start" on it. Any ideas what is wrong or how to fix it? Thanks.
I have an Asus A7V133 mobo with Via KT133A chipset with 686b southbridge. Have 1.2ghz 266fsb Thunderbird. MSI StarForce 815Pro GeForce2 Pro video card. Guillemot Maxi Sound Muse Surround Sound 3d PCI Audio card. 256mb PC-133sdram. Nothing is overclocked. Thanks.

Could be that your desktop is corrupt, did you notice some icons to be screwed too?
If that's the case you could try downloading tweakui, there is a feature in it to repair the desktop.

Alternatively, it could be the graphics drivers.

They may not be initialising corectly when the computer wakes up.
Try lowering the hadrware accelleration:
Right-click 'My Computer' > Properties > Performance > Graphics

Try lowering it by 1 notch and try again. If this helps, then you'll need some updated drivers. The NVidia Detonator drivers are usually very good.
