StarWars Battlefront gameplay debut April 17th

This is the first game I was planning to get, where I have ended up not buying it because of the experience in the alpha and beta. It's fun, but very shallow and quickly boring for a multiplayer focused game.

In contrast after the BF3 and BF4 betas I was looking forward to the release so I could get more of the game. After the Battlefront alpha/beta I'd already had my fill of the game.

Maybe once it's really cheap. I think the game will hit the bargain bin pretty quickly.

I preloaded last night, and played 30 minutes before work this morning. It is something new, that is not Call of Duty. All I needed for the meantime.

PS: Nothing wrong with Call of Duty, for those who are into it. Just not my cup of tea since MW2.

Downloaded and started to play around 9:00pm AK time, I couldn't find any multi-player games, so I tried a couple training missions. Tried the X-wing mission which was ok and a Hoth battle. Hmmm... played for about 20 mins or so and jumped back onto Halo 5.

I hope it gets better after I can get some multi-player action. It seemed kinda slow compared to Halo 5.

The good

• The game absolutely nails the sights and sounds of Star Wars
• Shooting is satisfactory, even if blaster fire takes getting used to
• Wonderfully easy to get into
• Walker Assault is still delightfully desperate

The bad

• Combat and progression are too simple to stay interesting
• Somewhat bland use of the Star Wars and Battlefront licenses
• Some modes feel too similar, while others aren't worth your time
• Secondary weapons that are often unusable thanks to a strict cooldown

Other reviews have been saying how it's too little for $60.

Pretty much exactly where I am. After beta I wasn't left wanting more. It'll be a play for a week and then never think about it again game. So disappointing they didn't do something meatier with such a great franchise. And from a studio known for doing games with a little more meat. If it had been activision and infinity ward....

My friend got it for ps4 and is trying to convince me to buy it. He says the full game has many more game modes than the beta. I just wasn't impressed after the beta. Its like battlefield without vehicles skinned for star wars.

It's not like Battlefield, it's just a shallow bland shooter with pretty visuals and sounds, you'd get bored of it in a few weeks.

Fighter Squadron mode is basically my childhood given back to me. Delightful and intense.

Just requested a refund from EA and its been processed. I love star wars and I REALLY wanted to like this game. But I absolutely can't stand some of the gameplay elements.

5 shots with a laser = enemy doesn't die.
Orbital strike incoming warning = instadeath - no possibility of escape (note - this happens A LOT).
Spend 90% of the game running from a start point = fail
Literally impossible to kill anyone in the game (I'm not terribad at shooters generally but it took me a full 4 games of walker assault to register a single kill.

Its just . . . BAD.

Again - just my opinion. If you like it, I am happy for you.

Ain't never gonna happen. You can't get Mass Effect 3 with all the DLC for $20. The DLC is worth more than the game by this point. EA DLC seems to pretty much hold to its price point forever.

To those disappointed in TAA and FXAA, using SweetFX's LUMASHARPEN works to re-sharpen the image to give back detail that the AA turns into blurry Vaseline.

I followed the same steps here as for Fallout 4. Just changed the exe to Battlefront's. I also recommend this for FO4, of course. You download one program and follow just a handful of simple steps to get much improved AA.

Here are the comparisons. 1440p (cropped smaller) all Ultra:

TAA
TAA + Sharp
FXAA High
FXAA High + Sharp
No AA and no sharpening

All are using 1.90 sharp_strength in LUMASHARPEN - SweetFX.

Although FXAA High + Sharp looks the best in stills (imo), I find that in motion TAA+Sharp has the best results. FXAA, even with resharpening, has noticeable shimmering during movement. I've been using TAA + Sharp for now and I've been pretty happy.

In Origin click "Origin" in the upper left corner - then account and settings. Then click order history. If you are within 24 hours of starting the game a refund link will be present to the left of Star Wars Battlefront. Click it and follow the instructions.

Very easy and quick. My refund was processed in about 5 minutes though the system warns it can take longer than that.

I am pretty sure he meant paying $20 for the base game, and then paying for the expansions separately, not $20 for everything.

It's deeper than Battlefront, you get to customize your class characters and upgrade them.

I was thinking the same thing. It's been known for a while that it's multiplayer only, so it's not like they hid that. Pretty sure it even says multiplayer only on the packaging for store bought games, or Origin's page for digital.
