StarWars Battlefront gameplay debut April 17th

I liked Battlefront 1 & 2, but when this game was announced I followed it closely and wasn't all that interested, now I'm even less interested. For all we know, it may sell like crazy initially then tank like Battlefield Hardline did and all those disgruntled players will go back to Battlefield 4 or some other game.

And to be clear, I have zero hopes for Battlefield 5 being any good. It's just getting that bad.

No server browser for PC all auto match only

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa? This basically ruins it for any sort of clan style gaming then. I'm out since the Origin platform is not conducive to any sort of matchmaking.

I canceled my preorder on the server browser news. I've played MM only games before and I have zero interest in that experience.

Wow that's pretty sad. I honestly wasn't looking to pick this up since I haven't really cared for anything dice has put out since BattleField2...but this just gives me another reason to sit this one out.

I only played BattleFront 2 and didn't really care too much for it to be honest. Felt like a crazy mess of a deathmatch with stupid heroes, although I will admit space was cool.

Man dice has gone downhill. I liked Battlefield Bad Company and BF3 was OK. BF4 is junk, and I was hoping this game would be a nice change of pace. My last hope is diminishing.

I'm thinking like BF3 you have a profile and then a friends list. You join your friends match from the friends list but this complicates things because if there a a bunch of you some may not be able to join because it full.
Seems likely that it will not have dedicated servers but I'm not positive about this.

I'd assume it'd be like an RTS Automatch where you group with friends and then it searches for a server that has enough slots for all of you together.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (2010) had a system like that and it was absolutely awful.

I think its going to be a lobby system. Join a friend and you get to hang out in the server lobby until the round ends. If there are enough of you, it just creates a new lobby and then waits to fill with randoms. Assigns a server when the room is full. Game ends, you wait for people to join again, etc, etc.

Servers as a concept won't really exist. No private servers anyways. You'll join games.

Pretty much. An especially active admins. I know some people whine about badmins, but on PC its literally the only way to can police hackers. FF and PB are a joke.

I really miss how we ran FullContactWar back in the Battlefield 2 days. We had different team colors for each shift (red, blue, and green) corresponding to each admin's playtime around the clock in order to have full coverage of the server.

How is something like that supposed to be set up for a game that doesn't use a server browser? Can you save favorites? Connect via IP?

Yeah, I was all onboard for this game after the Alpha, but the lack of game browser is a no go. I may buy it if it goes to 10 dollars or if they put in a game browser.

So now you get absolutely NO hacker prevention.

Honestly if I wanted this sort of gameplay I'd just play CoD.

I'm pretty sure the Beta is open to everyone, you just have to sign up on Origin. The actual game will require a key when it releases, of course. And it looks like the Beta will only be active for a few days, so if you want to try it out, best to get it as soon as possible (it officially goes live on October 8th).
