Christ my sister-in-law just forked over $9k they couldn't really afford for a vet bill. I guess the alternative is to just kill your pet but it's okey dokey because the economy is roaring right?
When have vet bills not been obscene for something serious?

Also, another supply issue: last time I tried to find a new vet, it took months for a 'taking new pets' slot to open up with a local vet. They're just booked up the wazoo.

Britt: Are you better off than you were 3 years ago??

I don't know Katie, there are 1.1 million people who are not here to answer that question.

Hey Katie, how can you support IVF and call embryos people?

Yeah, it’s an affect.

Not enough housing where people want to live being #1.

While I agree that’s an issue, Biden did address it in this speech. Not only that but it’s my personal opinion that this issue will solve itself as boomers die off.

Lol I’m watching the Republican response and it’s like watching a sally struthers commercial. More lying and fake tears.
A feels over facts talk for sure. Talks about a 70 year guy that can't retire. Guess what, Biden wasn't President when this guy was saving for retirement.
Also she is making $174k/year, so I'm sure she's living a middle class life.

So you want to live in a deflationary economy, like we had in the Great Depression and in 2009? Yeah, those were great times.
I want to live in an economy where the inflation slows the fuck down for a second so the generally accepted concept of raises can actually result in an increase in buying power, so people feel like they're working toward something. A generous 3% raise means fuck all if inflation was 4% during the same timeframe, doubly so if that inflation hit consumer needs products more than consumer wants products. I need eggs, not televisions.

I almost never respond to you because you’re mentally ill but in this case you can get royally fucked.

I’m a ‘limousine liberal’? I grew up in a poor house where my abusive dad left when I was 13, I dropped out of high school after almost killing myself and joined the Navy to escape my shitty home town. Shortly after I got out of the Navy I came within an inch of dying of cancer and lost my life savings fighting it. Now I have a decent paying job and a good life and every dollar I have I earned. Not one dollar of inheritance.

So I mean this genuinely - fuck you. Grow up.

You own a home in Brooklyn and have admitted you did very very well. I respect your hustle, but limousine liberal and wealthy elitism has absolutely nothing to do with your childhood, and you know that, but here you want to deflect and distract from your prickish point of view. People can start from humble roots and can easily become insufferable pricks. I mean that story is as old as time. You can pick a number of powerful people who have done exactly that right now and that list would be loooong - start from little, get rich, and become insufferable out of touch pricks. I mean many don't either, but we are talking about you here. Please don't tell me you are so narcissistic you think you are the first?

I find that way more of a mental illness than anything I have. But good luck with that.

But real wages are up so what you want is happening.

The cluelessness of some people in this thread on the economy is astounding. Looks at gdp, inflation, unemployment level, gas prices, stock market and infrastructure improvements. Who would have thought a world wide pandemic would lead to inflation? I mean interrupting logistics and supply chain to that level surely couldn’t cause WORLD WIDE inflation issues could it?

Shakes head. Again, housing is a product of local zoning and NIMBY. That is where we fix that problem. 15 million jobs created by Biden versus negative job creation by Trump. On and on and on.

But my feels man. The brown people are coming to get me? Real purchasing power? What’s that? Sounds like Harry Potter shit man. You baby blood drinking libtards
Keeping interest rate super fucking low after the economy was shooting up hurt housing prices too.

I saw something the other day that showed multi-family start are at a record high also.

I was here before the speech. Should all those posts before it be deleted?

Well if you are going to complain about shit that’s not being addressed, that Biden specifically addressed in the speech, then yeah, maybe not sound clueless before posting.

My cat died recently and it was over $2k for them to just say ‘yeah, your cat is dying’.
My dog might have eaten some tylenol in late 2018 and we had to take her to the pet ER. The pet ER visit for an overnight stay was like $2k. Fortunately, she probably didn't eat a tylenol because she hates taking pills, but that didn't help my wallet at the time.

Yeah I know, vet bills are supposed to be expensive, but how long does it take to pay off a $2k bill vs a $9k bill? How many more big bills come up while paying off that $9k as fast as you fucking can? I can shunt like $500-700/mo to straight up CC debt every month and I still haven't been debt free in years because there's always something that's really goddamned expensive, on top of all the shit that keeps increasing in price, despite wage increases.

Yes but we are still behind but that’s mostly because we weren’t building during Covid.

There are latte liberals carrying the water of what he was speaking about, so it's all still relevant. I'm sorry you have trouble keeping up with basic conversational traits.

Maybe a little bit. Unfortunately, there will still be a fair amount of demand because people don't want to move to their shitty suburban wasteland and be stuck only getting around by car for the rest of their lives, households have shrunk in size, but the population has grown.

Not for people who aren't job hopping, or are in what would have been considered a respectable job in 2018.
I’m not sure what you’re trying to argue. Real wages are up so the average American is better off. What’s the issue?

That there's a voting bloc who doesn't see the 'better off' part, and that's a problem when you're running on the message of 'everyone's doing better'.

(twitter linked because it has the data in the thread)

As Matt Darling shows from Federal Reserve data: the median American household has a net worth of $193k, the same household holds $8k in transaction accounts (checking/savings), and 54% of adults have 3 months of expenses saved.

Most Americans can cover surprise expenses with cash or cash-like equivalents. They may not like to do that, but the data says they can.

There is never an economy where everyone is doing better. Even in the best of times some sectors are dying. It doesn’t change the fact that the average American is doing quite a bit better.

Biden says is different from Biden does

I’m assuming you aren’t American as every American should be pretty well versed in how our government works. In America, presidents aren’t dictators. In America laws are passed by congress, which requires a majority in the house and under present circumstances in the senate it requires a super majority. After which the president signs the bill.

That being said, Biden has a pretty freaking good record of doing what he says despite the large hurdle it takes to get anything done.

Sure, if you say so. You said you have made well into the six figures for some time. Whatever you own, at least you had an excuse for being so out of touch with the economic reality of millions of people, and now you are trying to take that away from yourself?

So then explain to us how you are such an out of touch elitist prick even with your modest living situation, say it's true. Here I am trying to find excuses for you.
