Hey guys.
I took the AT community's advice and decided to self-build my computer. Yesterday I had a friend come over and we put that mother together.
It's a 1900+, Asus A7V333, and Leadtek Ti4600.
I have a few questions about how I have things set up:
1.) The HeatSinkFan is attached firmly, though sorta looks to be about half a degree crooked. It's totally covering the CPU, though. AsusProbe reports the processor being at about 58-60 Celcius during the time I've used it. I ran Passmark Burn-In, and forced the CPU to run a few billion calculations. Temp stayed about the same (dropped or rose 1 or 2 degrees) and completed the benchmark succesfully. I'm guessing I have the HSF installed OK?
2.) When I was putting it together, I accidentally touched the motherboard surface a couple of times. Is that OK? I also touched the bottom of the HSF (though not where the thermal pad is)... am I just being paranoid? The whole time I had 3 antistatic wrist wraps on, lol.
3.) When I tried to shut down WinXP once, it just froze at the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen... only happened once out of a bunch of shut downs though... I'm guessing this is just WinXp's suck factor?
Thanks for aswering my questions guys.
P.S. When all is said and done, I pull in just over 10k with 3DMark 2001SE. No overclocking.
