I redently purchaed heatsink+fan(CPC30370 Sunon HS) from KDcomputers.com. That is one of the biggest mistake I ever made this year. After I installed hsf on cpu, I power up.... fan doesnt work... Well that broken sunon fan they sent me cause my amd 1.33 TB cpu. Cpu was totally cooked within 5 sec. I called them and ask what they gonna do about this, and they behaved very rude and hung up. I dont know how they got resseller rating something like 6.7 out of 7.0. Anyway, I suggest stay away from this company. I think this company is home-based one(from the noise I hear from background when I talk to one of their csr). Guys have any suggestion what should I do? I hate see my over $200 worth of investment just blow up by somebody else's falult.

P.S : Don't you guys think it is my fault that I didn't check heat sink fan before I installed it? That is what that csr told me... Any comment will be appreciated. Peace

Well, first thing that comes to my mind is that, if you had properly installed the cooler, no matter how crappy a brand it is as long as it is for socket-A, the CPU should not cook in 5 seconds even with the fan not turning. Are you sure you had the heatsink properly attached?

I agree....if properly installed and the fan didn't work....then your CPU still should have not cooked....did you have it overclocked? I don't think the company is totally responsible here....

Well this is my 5th computer I am building and well.. I think I did install heatsink more than 50 times. I certainly did raise my cpu voltage to 1.8v. However, that is still below 1.33's threshord which is 1.85v. I applied artic silver on chip too before I install heat sink. I really can't think anything else I did wrong from my experience so far. One correction, it was not 5 secs took fried my cpu. I actually waited window come up, and checked my temp going up over 80 sometnhing. That was the point to turn off my computer, and found out my cpu was cooked. Well sorry for 5 sec bragging... As you can see, I am quite unstable emotionally... Just lost my be-loved T-bird...

You should have checked the fan right away. Something is not being told here, because even with no fan, it would not fry a CPU in 5 seconds. It takes about 5 minutes for the heat to saturate the heatsink, then if not evacuated via fan, then I can see where it would have fried. You are probably on your own on this, and the company is not responsible.

if you are dealing with a $200 cpu, then it is a good idea to test it. you shot yourself in your own foot. KD is a great place. it is not their fault if the fan got dameaged in shipping. Lay off them, and live with your stupidity. and everyone else. learn from this guys mistake...

I've made 3 purchases for KDComputers and I am completely satisfied with everything I have received from them. From reading previous posts, there should be no way that your CPU would fry in 5 seconds if your HS was installed properly. Someone else did that, they installed a HS without plugging the fan into a header for longer than you did and still did not damage their cpu due to the HS. I think you're at fault, and they are right, you should have tested the fan before installing anyway.

Every time I'm into my box doing anything, no matter what, I fire it up and make sure that the fan is spinning on my cpu, cause you never know what you might have bumped or missed...1st time or 100th time in.

KDComputers is not to blame, you are. I can stop the fan on my HS with my PC running under full load & it takes a while for it to lock up, let alone fry. And, coincidentally, I got it from them. Taisol CGK760, I've been very happy with it.

And you wonder why they hung up on you when you called to bitch them out?

Of course you should of kept your case open to make sure the fan powered up.. it is not kdcomputers fault, no store checks fans on heatsinks to see if they work. TEn to 15 dollar fans come under misc. far as stores are concerned. So yes, it was your fault I'm afraid.

thats why i like my Abit board, with the fan monitoring. If the fan on the CPU doesn't register a certin RPM the CPU won't boot.

I'm just curious if there is a "gadget" that you could install inside the case to monitor the CPU fan so incase the fan did fail, the computer would automatically power down?

did you use credit card with buying protection?
then just let the credit card company eat it.

or next time spend more for retail cpu, let intel/amd eat it.

Huu.. lots of flame here. Well at this point, I think I have to accept my fault... But guys, read my second post. I said 5 sec is not ture and I explained what is really happened... Well anyway, You really think 1.33 T-bird cpu without heat sink fan will stay alive a certain time like you guys said? Then, I really don't understand what fried my cpu. As I mentioned from my second post, I shut down my computer after window finished loading and found out cpu temp is over 80 degree(I checked up as soon as WIn finished loading). I guess that will take a lot less than 3 mins. Anyway, no more flame plz. I had enough. I ask you guys suggestion and only thing I get is "You are so stupid" talk..

P.S : Kingofcomputer, How does this buying protection works? Thanks in advance. Peace guys.

Could it be posible that you cracked the core while installing the HSF? Take a look and see. This may lead to the core overheating. Hey, people, enough with the useless flames...

I don't see any apparent crack on the core. However I clearly see burnt spot on the back of cpu. I am currently experiencing really bad karma. Need to cheer me up somehow. Maybe I will go for fishing this weekend.. Maybe I will keep my machine without cpu till Palomino gets released. I think I will save money and try to be the first one to get that beast
