Siren is by far my fav class. I've played through the game a few times with her. Just use smg's and thats it if you can help it and she is powerful as hell

Oh, and I have 220 hours into Borderlands, according to Steam. Split between a level 69 soldier and level 69 hunter. The soldier was all multiplayer.

Already invested 24 hrs on the game and my solider class is at lvl 35. The badass soldier are tough cookies

Ugh, the soldiers are definitely harder to kill than most units. If you have any Corrosive weapons, it should deal more damage against them given their much higher armor. I try and keep some decent weapons lying around, but it can be hard to find a good one. I think I recently found a new Corrosive SMG with good accuracy and a high fire rate, so that should help.

Oh, and I also found another ammo regen class mod for a Siren, so I have 3 extras if anyone wants one. I think the levels are something like 28, 32 and 40. The newer one I found is kind of bad since it only has +SMG damage and +ammo regen where most of mine have 3 talent boosts as well.

EDIT:

Oh, and one thing you're going to learn... the two most annoying enemies in the game are Scythids and Spiderants... I absolutely hate the prior the most and Spiderants are just annoying because you think you've killed them all and *pop*... here comes more! I love my 4x shot SMG for the Spiderants though... it just mows them down so fast, but it really eats through my bullets even with regen.

it's really frustrating to hope a elemental automatic rifle to drop. I'm getting alot of sniper rifles, handguns and SMGs booo . At least I got 2-3 pretty good ARs, 1 fire, 1 electric, 1 good physical.

the ammor regen class mod + the turret ammo regen really helps my ammo needs. Since then I barely bought any ammo.

I don't think I ever buy ammo... at least not for the SMGs and I can easily refill grenades from ammo boxes.

Heh, you know... I forgot why I need to be a tad bit more careful around the Lance units... they sometimes have Sniper rifles . I was messing around with my elemental tech guns and almost getting myself killed, and then I just said screw it and took out my 4x SMG and just blew everything away. Badass units be damned, my 4x SMG tears through everything .

I have a question about playing borderlands. Can I copy the save files of the game bought from microsoft's game store and play with steam's version?

I just bought the GOTY edition on Steam to add all the DLC to my retail edition, and it seems to just work, I didn't have to copy any save files, on first load my characters were just there.

I've leveled all of the characters to 50 and a soldier and siren to 69. Siren is without a doubt the most potent character in the game, if for no other reason then the game loves SMGs and she does well with them. Soldier is probably the most versatile using just about everything that's not a pistol very well. If you are super pro though, nothing matches the damage you can get out of a well skilled Hunter rocking revolvers. Super fun game, especially with friends. Beserkers are probably the weakest class in my opinion. They are geared towards rocket launchers and melee combat both of which are pretty weak in game. A Siren with a decent Hellfire SMG is unstoppable all game though. Just about nothing but the Pyro Lance, Fire Skaggs, and Burning Psychos require changing guns.

I still like the quad-fire SMG on my Siren. One thing that's nice is that you don't have to aim much.. it's like a shotgun where the general vicinity is good enough (it has a base 28% accuracy anyway) and you almost always get a crit with one bullet.

One thing I've always been curious about... how do the accuracy bonuses for SMG levels work? I have some crazy high accuracy bonus with level 31 SMG, so how does that work if my SMG has a 93% base accuracy?

First thing you need to understand is that what is listed on the gun card as accuracy is actually spread. If you face a wall from a few feet away and shoot the gun at the wall you will see that the gun makes a circular pattern on the wall, the larger the circle the lower the accuracy. That means that accuracy counts down from 100, and decreases exponentially. So that a weapon with an accuracy of 100% has a 0 degree spread, and a 0% accuracy has a 45 degree spread.

Accuracy bonuses from weapon skill do not affect accuracy at all. Instead it affects weapon sway when zoomed (looking down the scope or barrel) and does nothing at all when not zoomed.

Recoil reduction does affect accuracy. It seems to increase the amount of time to reach the maximum circle of spread, and decrease the amount of time it take to recover. But only when not zoomed, recoil reduction seems to do nothing at all when zoomed.
