Thank you!

The Russian versions are cheap but what are the cons? Is it just the language that cant be changed? What is this? Why is the Russian keys sooo much cheaper? For example Fallout 4 its £18.91 lol... i want to buy it but is the con? D:

Con is it could be locked because you're playing it in the wrong region.

Whats funny is I preordered FC4 for cheaper than it is now on Steam. <$10 is going to be a long wait.

Now that I look at the store page again, yeah.

Maybe I bit on FC3 at $20. Eh, I've been doing pretty well at holding off on a purchase unless I intend to play it right away.

My ten bucks will find some other game. Maybe Grim Dawn, and then just wait for it to leave Early Access. I believe they're pretty close. Or Ronin + Her Story. I'll find a way. :whiste:

also... while there are patches and stuff out there that will essentially switch the language the game uses... you have to install these patches after EVERY update. just that headache alone is worth the extra $$$ imo

Yeah, it looks like most of my wishlist is on sale. And things seem to be cheaper than yesterday as well.

pulled the trigger on The Witcher trilogy + Witcher 3 expansion pass, plus SWTOR1+2.

figure they should be fun games to play with the Steam Link I'm 99% sure I'm getting for Christmas.

Why are games getting cheaper again? I thought the price yesterday was the standalone discount price?

like every steam sale ever, you only jump on the daily, 24 hour or flash deals (usually 6 or 8? hours at a time).

Never buy the event-long standard discounts. The daily/temporary deals are always going to be the best deals, and are usually repeated on the final day with the best sellers.

I thought they changed with this sale, though... no more daily or flash deals, since people were just returning/re-buying games if they went on sale.

just like any electronics or imports, games and pricing are regulated by trade treaties. Some countries pay less than others for the same content, or more, and license keys for games are locked to specific regions to reflect the proper pricing. Same is true with buying a stereo or fridge in whatever country you are trying to buy it.

If you are in the UK, trying to use a key licensed to the Russian trade region, for example, you are technically doing so illegally, no matter what anyone says.

maybe so. ~15 minutes ago is the first time I logged in to steam to check things out.

price adjustments aren't uncommon, too--often times the published price is broken on the daily refresh and you get nothing but time-outs when trying to purchase. I like to give steam an hour or two after daily refresh before I trust pricing.

Best bet is to follow Aikoku's advice and use enhanced steam.

Yea, they aren't doing any of that fancy stuff anymore. What you see is what you get. I 'think' there were a few instances of changes throughout, but no crazy differences like there were in the past.

I think flash sales will be back, steam will add some kind of mechanism to add funds to your steam wallet to compensate for the difference.

Like I said earlier, publishers are still able to to discount their stuff more heavily for a portion of the sale. And when they do, they'll get a front page feature.

It happened during the last one, it will happen during this one. But it's the stuff you'd expect, AAA series, big name games, etc.

I think they made the change as part of the change to add refunds. They figured their CS reps would be swamped with refund requests from people buying a game at $10 at the start of the sale and then asking for credit when it's $6 on a daily or flash sale.

They did. Flash/daily deals are gone. What you see on sale is the best price you will get.

I meant it would be automated

My guess is that before the next sale they will find a way to bring it, or something like it, back. Right now you just go to the sale on the first day, check your wishlist for what is 75% or more off, and then not look at the store again until next July. I just spent $4.95 on 3 games and I'm done for this sale.

Ah, so basically everything is on sale, the same price throughout, and the top "featured packages" are just randomly rotating ads?

well, that's no fun

Just not feeling it. Any games on my wish list over the past year I managed to pick up when Steam had their flash sales, so there just isn't anything to interest me.

With such a huge backlog of games from Humble Bundles to start, I can skip this sale. I just started playing Metro 2033, and found it held nothing new or interesting for me so far. Feels like Doom 3.

Damn.
I blew my wad yesterday because I thought they would not get cheaper.

You can always get a refund on the games that are listed cheaper later as long as it falls into the steam refund policy.

Probably best to buy a game during the sale if it seems the cheapest you will get and not play it until the event is over in case it is even cheaper later on to use the policy.

Using the enhanced steam extension showed that over 10% of my wishlist was cheaper in last years steam sale than it is now. And a good portion of my list was not out yet last year. What a terrible sale.

As for what I got, I bought about $40 of Rocksmith DLC, and I'm currently looking at getting Rocket League and Grandia II. There are a few other games that are piquing my interest, but I don't know if I want to spend too much. Blasphemous, I know!

The vouchers don't seem to work on games that are already super cheap. For example, I got Transformers for $18, and unsurprisingly, the voucher doesn't work on that.
The greenman gaming vouchers work on rocket league. I bought it and the 4 dlcs for $20.96 which is a few buck cheaper than steam and bundlestars. The only thing I'm missing this way is the soundtrack that I don't care about.
