OK, Serious Sam HD is EXACTLY the same game as it was before. For those of you who missed out, this is certainly worth 10 bucks. For those who love the old one, they didnt change any game play elements. My only complaint is the HUD isnt as nice as the old one, and I think the pistol shoots marginally slower this time. But since you wont use the pistol much, you shouldnt care.
I wish someone would do a graphics update on KOTOR 1 and 2. Not to mention a hundred other games I love.
oh well.
I also bought it, and while I didn't play the original but, I am kind of disappointed in the game.
First off it seems like the sounds were stolen from the old game. They are also kinda glitchy- in one part where those kamikaze guys ran at me screaming I blew them up but one was still screaming, like the sound was stuck there even though all of the guys were dead.
Second, the graphics aren't that great (your guns look pretty nice and shiny in well-lit, daylight scenes, but thats about it), yet somehow the game is more intensive than I thought. I tried running at 1920x1080 4xAA/16xAF all max settings on my gts 250, and while its playable, at least 30 FPS, there are some problems. Most notably when going into the analyze menu thing FPS drops to 10 for some reason. Then going back into the game there is like a 2 second period of like 5 FPS while the game seems to "re-load." Turning the resolution down gives me 60 FPS most of the time with drops to 50 or even 40 FPS, but the menu problem is still there.
And the gameplay is kinda meh, just kill, kill, kill. . . And there are some cheap parts with just respawning enemies. Maybe I need to turn up the difficulty and play co-op.
Kinda seemed like a waste of $10 considering that for $3.xx I've been addicted to Rome: Total War.
So yeah I guess next time I will try a demo first, or if there is no demo (like in this case), just not buy the game.
