Steam Issues

After one of the updates for steam. It's been running like crap.

If I launch a game for the 1st time after I log in, It would stop responding for about 10mins, before it prepares to launch the game, after the 1st try it would be fine. I downloaded the Portal 2 CO-OP trailer and whenever I run steam would do the same thing for about 10mins. This time It doesn't matter if its the 1st time I launch the video or the 5th time, it still stops responding. It did the same thing when I wanted to pre-load a game today.

Is this steam just being crappy or is it my system? Anybody else having the same issue.

I don't know but never liked the lag of the new Steam UI. Like it but can't handle the slowness. Went back to the old steam ui long ago and refuse to go back. Much faster and less laggy! I don't have a old pc either.

I didn't even know it was possible to go back to the older UI. How does one do that?

Well I found this on the internet and it works great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3fsEhTCBaI&fmt=34 You just have fix your friends list yourself but that is easily done. The link is on the video itself. The directions on how to use it are there.

Some people will liking want to do it others not. I really don't care. Just know it works.

Your welcome. Let us know how it goes for you please. Thanks. It worked for me when I tried it I just couldn't get the friends list to show. It worked I just couldn't get any of the text itself to show. It can be fixed though if you followed the guide. I was sleepy when I tried it so I most likely did something wrong. Everything else worked perfectly!

Actually, I got bogged down with work (and a family ban on gaming) last weekend, so I haven't been able to try it out. But I WILL. Sometime. Just .. not soon.

(The 'ban' is because we've got someone in the house with exams coming up)
