I picked up one directly from valve for $15 shipped a few months back.

Once I hard wired everything it works pretty well for what the cost is, it is not flawless however.

You know what would be freaking awesome? If there was some way to use the Stream link hardware, as a additional Workstation terminal for NT-based OSes. Basically, like a bunch of Thin Clients for Windows, which is what it basically is, to allow access to Windows Desktop accounts, all on one box. Would make for a nice, lower-maintenance solution, for places like Internet Cafes and Libraries.

They should really look into that. (NV and AMD do make "special" video cards, that have multi-way hardware GPU virtualization support, that could be used with an array of Steam links to do just this, I think.)

Yeah, not so much. The web is so bloated these days that Thin Clients choke on many common websites unless your terminal server has hardware GPU acceleration (IE nVidia Grid) which is way outside the budget for places like internet cafes and libraries. I say this as somebody who administers 70+ terminal server farms. Unless you've got a sizable budget, Thin Clients don't work out nearly as well as one might hope/expect.
