I can see why some people are liking L4D1 more than L4D2. The team members don't stay up with you as well as the ones in the first one did. Did they change the AI on them? Mine either hang way back or run off somewhere else much of the time. At critical times they don't seem to want to follow and support me. Also they tend to want to grab a melee weapon for a gunfight. Not too bright and not very helpful when you get mobbed.
Also the level design is a bit lacking in some parts. For example what idiot did the mall level? Constant wave of of zombies coming at you while you have to figure where the damn alarm is and then you have to wade through them. All the while your team doesn't want to follow half the time. The arrow guide was screwy in there too. I go up it'd point down, I go down it'd point to go up. I spent about 5 hours trying to do just that part and that was on easy level. It wasn't fun. It was frustrating.
And the part of getting to the race car and filling it up with gas. This should have been fun but once I gathered 7 of the eight gas cans I couldn't find the eighth anywhere. I think this part was bugged because I looked all over and then one of my team shot one of the cans and burned the seven I had all up. I went down and after I got revived the game constantly spammed tanks. I never seen it do that before on easy level. Usually you get one, maybe two but they were coming out of the wood work one right after another. Everyone finally died and I had to redo it and on the second go I had 10 gas cans. Just silly. Again, not fun but frustrating.
I'm still going through the game. I just finished the plantation chapter. Biggest gripe there is the machine gun on the balcony. They need to increase the degree of arc on that one. The hoard come through at extreme angles making it mostly useless. Better to use your fav weapon. That way you can shoot at any angle. It won't overheat either.
I hope the game levels get better because right now I'm glad I got it on sale and didn't pay full price for it. Right now the game is a mixed bag for me. Some things they did or added I like and some things I don't. Unlike the first game where I pretty much like it all.
Well, thats my early thoughts on it so far. I still have more to play through.
