Steam sales bring out the niggard in me.

Ever since I started buying games almost exclusively from Steam sales or Daily Deals I can hardly stomach paying more than $30 for a new game D:

I guess it's a good thing I no longer need to have the latest AAA turd from EA or Activision to play with the cool kids, saves me a lot of money. Or rather I spend about the same but I get lots of quality games instead of just a handful.

Last game I paid $60 for was Starcraft 2 1.5 years ago, next one will probably be Diablo III whenever it's released.

Anyone else like this?

Locked.

I spent about $50 on Steam over the holiday seasons. Of course I got about 20 games lol. I just bought Red Nation today, I looked for a review and wasn't able to find any, I checked out a quick video. I did notice Steam has a free play weekend for it. So I did the logical thing and bought it without even trying the free play. For some reason $2.50 is almost always an instant buy price when the games originally $10 or higher.

DAMN YOU STEAM!

Ugh, I played Nation Red for the first time to see how it was and ended up playing for 1.2 hours.

I think it's great I can actually afford more games than I have time to play.

For middle aged games, their sales are awesome. I just wish for old games I didn't have to hope and pray for a sale to get it at a reasonable price. The rise of DLC did way more to make me wait than steam sales have.

Last game I bought in who knows how many years for close to full price was BF3.

$45 after tax and it included:

MoH:LE
Dead Space
Dead Space 2
Back to Karkand

Other than that, I can't bring myself to buy games unless they are heavily discounted. I got Skyrim during the holiday sale but that's because I traded games for it. I still have FO:NV and The Witcher sitting in my Steam Inventory but not like I would get to those any time soon with Skyrim and BF3.

Ethnic slur? I'm not sure OP intended to be demeaning. More likely he's using a stereotype.

That kind of stereotype IS an ethnic slur. No different from saying blacks are lazy, Asians scheming, Arabs fanatical, Native Americans drunks, etc. Whatever the original intention it is not a nice thing to say and encourages others to say similar things.

You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.

I will spend money on the new games if they look good, I have always done it that way....steam sales are OK, but I rarely have time to play these indie games.

I predict this thread to get closed due to arguments about slurs and such.

I agree the Steam sales have made it so now I don't have to pay full price any more although I do have to wait a month or two after release but considering how buggy games are it is probably for the best considering by the time I do buy them off of Steam they have a few patches applied. Another thing I save on is shelf space. Buying fewer game boxes makes my shelves less crowded.

So you're saying he dropped a hard J?

Oh and regarding the OP, yeah, I'm the same way. I haven't bought a game at release since... I think Mass Effect 2 was the last one. I did technically pay full price for Forza Motorsport 4, but that's a console game AND I used a GameStop gift card to pay for most of it.

I'm not into multiplayer gaming anymore so there's no need for me to hit an early window when the community is most active. I can just wait for the price to drop and then buy it, and by the time I'm tired of whatever I have, more games will have dropped in price.

Steam is helping me be a patient buyer.

It took < 2 months for Batman AC to be 50% off.

That makes me cocky, and now I'm waiting for it to be 75% off (expecting it by summer. )

I'm not like that because almost no games are $40 or more for me at launch.
The exceptions are SW TOR and Activision games generally.

Here are my pre-orders on Amazon.co.uk for retail sealed box games direct from Amazon themselves:

Diablo 3: $29.26
Mass Effect 3: $35.66
Hitman Absolution: $31.84

Haha, I got Arkham Asylum for $7.50 and I expect to pay the same for AC, shouldn't be too long.
