Steam Summer Sale 2016

According to PayPal, the summer sale is supposed to start today. I feel like this event has lost a lot of "steam" since most people own everything they want from previous other sales for the most part.

But, I always find myself buying at least 1 or 2 games. I have $78 in credit still so we'll see what I end up with. If Rocket League hits a nice discount, I will probably be buying 2. Other than that, if some older FPS go on sale (New Order / Old Blood is on my wishlist), I might pick them up.

The problem with steam sales is they don't do the daily deal rotation anymore. Now it takes me 10 minutes to figure out that AAA games I actually want aren't discounted sufficiently, and I don't need to go back and take a look.

In ONLY for one item that won't be discounted enough for me.

In the year or so since I found out about isthereanydeal and greenmangaming, I don't think I've bought a game in Steam, even during Steam sales.

I don't know about others, but I've spent less and less at each steam sale mainly just by realizing how little I actually play the games I bought in the previous sales. Now I'm much more picky and only buy something I think I'll actually play. I think the last couple sales I only bought a few Rocksmith tracks that usually go on sale.

This. Isthereanydeal.com has been a blessing. I'm much more picky about what I want to play. I add it to my wishlist and name the price I'm willing to pay....and isthereanydeal emails me when it goes on sale at or below that price. It's so simple.

Completely takes the Steam Sale Impulse Buy out of the equation for me.

I want GTAV for $19. Other than that, I already have the games I want. Oh well.

The removal of daily deals took all the fun out of it. Used to be new things to look at every 8 hours, now I just have to look at my wishlist once.

I prefer to have all my games on Steam these days... just makes my life simpler.

I agree, and I'm think that it had to hurt their sales.

I'm betting that they go back to some form of rotating deals. I know that it gives them a problem with returns, but they will find a way around that. Maybe by just not discounting the games at all if they are going to be part of a rotating deal, and simply dealing with the few games that will still be in the return window, and that people will go through the process to return, when it does go on sale.

They need to bring back the community vote deals as well. Even though most of them were games I didn't want, it still made me log in every 8 hours.

Just do what every physical retailer does. Flash sales are exempt unless you process the return during the flash sale.

Steam sales are what can make PC gaming no more costly than consoles if you play your cards right. More money spent on hardware but less money spend on software. The only thing that really changes with your rig over the years is the gpu and that can be paid for with mining.

Steam is down for me in the North East (US). I'd guess the sale has begun.
