Probably, but im a fan of the genre. Sometimes after mowing down innocent bystanders in GTAV I need to unwind. I'm a fan of Flower and Journey and it ilk.

There are fewer great deals now that Steam doesn't do daily/flash deals.

The problem with daily/flash deals is that people weren't sure whether the current sale for a game was the best price for the sale period so they waited. With the current method you know that you're safe with the current pricing until the sale ends.

I picked up bioshock 3, Metal gear sold v and tomb raider 2013 thus far... All 3 games seem captivating enough for me to finish them perhaps.

Picked up the microsoft strategy game pack, I already own AOE2, but haivng a steam copy of these games is nice.

There's more indie games flooding the market, so the sales look worse than they did five years ago, but you're right, they are basically the same as they always have been. The only change I can think of is with the flood of indie games comes a ton of games you can buy for less than a dollar, idle them in the background for the trading cards, then sell the cards on the market for a small profit. Do this enough times and you can rack up $5 - $10 which can easily pay for a new game. It's time consuming and there's a chance you'll lose a few dollars, but trading card prices fluctuate so rapidly during the summer sales, you can generally get $.20 or so per card.

I'd recommend it. The early game especially is pretty remarkable for relaxing exploring.

Subnautica is going to be a great game, but I would recommend that you hold off on it for a few months. Version 1.0 is supposed to come out in September/October, but as of right now the game is incomplete. The story just stops at some point, and then you are just left wandering a mostly empty world looking for materials to build stuff that there is little to no use for.

Having said that what there is right now is about 20 hours worth, and it is and excellent experience. It is just going to be much better when the story is complete.

Does anyone know if Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 really that bad? I was really looking forward to it but because of too many negative reviews I am reluctant to get this game.

On one hand NieR Automata is a great game with some really funny stuff in it, and is easily worth the $42 it's selling at in the Steam Sale. On the other it's an awful port, so you have to use a mod called FAR to get the full resolution and I had to turn a couple of settings to medium to get a mostly locked 60 fps on my GTX 970. And one of the settings can only be changed through the FAR mod. It's a really creative game the way it switches between 3rd person RPG / side scrolling platformer-shooter, and top down shooter, and the music is really something so far in it.

I got 50 hours into Subnautica up until I got to the point where I couldn't really proceed with the story anymore. I'd say it's a must-purchase at this point for only $10. It's a steal at $20 if you ask me. I agree it will be better though, once the story is completed. Also, they do plan to increase the price upon release, so this is definitely the time to buy (unless you want to wait years for a better sale).

Majority of the people hated it as they either missed them or prevented anyone from buying actual games until the last day because they wanted to make sure the games they wanted were not on a flash sale.

Not to mention the refund system killed them as you can't have them and the refund system.

There's no evidence that L4D3 is even being made. All Gabe said was he likes the L4D universe. The whole L4D3 came from a folder name in a screenshot during one of their tutorial videos.

I'd like to get a military type game because I enjoyed the first ten or fifteen editions of COD on Xbox before it seemed to be the same thing over and over and lost it's appeal. I had Battlefield, but never really got good enough to be anything but a fleeing target. I was thinking of having a go at Arma III, for $14 it might be worth a try, but I am wary of needing another $100 of DLC to really play the game. I don't really have a powerhouse computer, that's also a factor.

Picked up Kerbal Space Program which was sitting on my wishlist for a long time. Enjoying it so far. Looking at Planet Coaster next but wondering they've added any 'challenge' to the game as this seemed to be a big gripe among reviewers. Being able to make a park which actually lost money was/is a difficult thing to do.

Yeah, I do believe I read somewhere that sales are up since removing flash deals. It's way less stressful to people who don't have time to babysit Steam. See something you like now? Get it without worry.

I'm just pointing out why the sales don't seem as good. Publishers are less willing to provide big discounts when said discounts have to run the entire two weeks instead of 8/24/48 hours.
