I wish there was a demo of Borderlands... I can't decide if it's something I'd be in to or not.

I bought the original borderlands and found it to be completely horrible.... Characters and weapons feel extremely underpowered, people online are all retarded, quests are very uninteresting. You die constantly and progress is extremely slow. Still, I am buying both DLCs today, because I cannot resist such a low price and who knows maybe I will like the game later down the road for some reason.... Also getting Killing Floor with all DLC.

Don't waste your money on the Killing Floor DLC. It's just allows you to play as different characters. You don't even get to see yourself, it just alters how you appear to other people.

Zombie Island and General Knoxx are well worth it and fun.

Moxxi is terrible and should only be bought if you want a bank to store some items.

Yeah, I pretty much paid $10 for a silly bank... then you have to pay around 1.5 million in game to go to 33 bank slots .

A little disappointed that The Witcher isn't up there now...
I'm very disappointed that The Witcher isn't there. I didn't buy it at $6.79 because I've been burned before by not waiting for the daily sales. So I was planning on buying it today if it didn't go on one of those sales, and I check it and it's gone up to $13.39, WTF.

I was able to convince a buddy of mine to let me "borrow" his Steam account so I could try the game out.
It's an OK game, but my worries of it being a console port have definitely been confirmed. Runs like shit on my 4870 and i7 920 @ 3.6Ghz. Mouse movement is very jerky... the smoothing is HORRIBLE. Trying to snipe from afar is a joke. FOV is, what, 50 degrees? Can only bind 1 key to any action.

I recently Borderlands and it runs just fine on my pc in sig. I also noticed no mouse issues and the fov wasnt really a problem either. I only played for about 30 minutes but it seems like a pretty cool game.

You can fix the mouse smoothing and the fov (although the fov fix isn't permanent). Runs fine on my rig in my sig. Also, I don't know what level you were, but the game gets better as you progress and get better weapons.

That said, the game is missing a lot of things that make it perfect:
Lack of minimap
Crappy map
Piss poor menus
Lack of autorun button
lack of a healing hotkey
lack of usable skills

Hopefully most of that stuff will be added if there's ever a borderlands 2 (i gave up hoping for this stuff in a patch).

that said, it's still a good game if you don't mind some of the mmo-like quest structure. You'll put a lot of time into this game if you're interested in playing as all the characters in some fashion or another.

Definitely worth $10 if you're even remotely interested.

I snipe stuff all the time in Borderlands... I'm honestly not even sure what you mean about the cursor.

EDIT:

I play on an i7 860 with a Radeon 5870 for reference. My main complaint is the lack of AA is quite evident and given it's on the UE3 engine with Steam, there's no way for me to turn it on through clever file renaming, etc.

Meh, I didn't like Borderlands. I didn't like the art direction.

I know lots of people loved it though.

I used this utility to change the config and Borderlands works much better http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=85874

Turning off mouse smoothing makes sniping and aiming in general so much easier. I couldn't hit anything before because the slightest movement threw the cursor around soo much, no matter how I adjusted my settings, hardware or software wise. Now it is nice and stable.

It also lets you turn off that stupid, stupid black cell border on everything, makes it look much better.

And it is a good fix for FOV. I set mine at 95, looks much better.

I also have it set to show me my FPS.. gets down to the 30s and 40s sometimes. With vsync on it feels a lot better though and generally stays at 60.

Here's the damage that the sale did to my wallet

Bionic Commando Rearmed $6.69
Borderlands + DLC (got in on a 4 pack) $17.82
Dark Void Zero $3.34
Plants vs Zombies $6.99
Misadventures of PB Winterbottom $2.49
Toki Tori $2.49
Red Faction Guerrilla $5.00
FlatOut Ultimate Carnage $2.00
Shatter $2.50
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising $4.50
Super Laser Racer $1.25
Introversion Complete Pack $5.00

$60.07

Not bad, beats out the $149 I spent on the winter sale, and there's not one game there that I regret buying.

I don't have a clue what you're talking about. I hate Borderlands, but I didn't have any of the issues that you described on my PC. It ran smooth as butter with all settings maxed on my q6600 4850 4GB RAM, no issues with mouse movement, no issues with precise movements such as sniping.

Don't even get me started on how shallow and half witted the story is, though..

I Purchased

Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising
Overlord Pack
Cryotasis

Wish I would have gotten the Titan Quest pack and still may get Bionic Commando Rearmed

Alittle disappointed in the last day sales.

I only picked up arma 2 and the new arma 2 xpac. I had no idea the game was as complex as it is, now I have to find the time to acclimate myself to the anthology of play controls

Let's see...

Deus Ex: Invisible War (The anniversary sale was right before the summer sale, so it counts in my book)
Overlord + Expansion
Overlord 2
Trine
Zeno Clash
Tropico 3 - Steam Special Edition
Dawn of Discovery + Expansion
Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom

So 8 games for around $45, not too bad.

nothing I haven't played yet except the Chrome pack [not on the daily sale - but another post about Crysis ripping off Chrome piqued my interest] - yeah..it's really old [looks like the devs "borrowed" a lot from the Quake 2 engine] - but I'm pretty sure it's Duke Nukem's voice in the game...

I may bite Tropico 3/Absolute power as I've been enjoying The Settlers [5 and 6 - not 7 until they remove that ludicrous drm] and Civ 4 [I seem to be in a city/world building mood lately]

Freakin awesome deals if you've been waiting on these titles to be at a price for cheap bastards.

As for Borderlands - I tried it for "free" - not much fun in single player mode but I can only imagine it being a blast if you play with 3 FRIENDS who aren't loot whores.

Borderlands + Knoxx, avoided the other DLC due to DRM
Defense Grid + DLC
Devil May Cry 4
Max Payne pack
Overlord pack
Prototype
Red Faction: Guerrilla
Resident Evil 5

Also jumped on the pre order of Monkey Island SE 2 for The Secret of Monkey Island SE offer.

Loving Prototype at the moment, Mount & Blade Warband is giving me the itch to buy, bought too many games already, still barely touched Dead Space and Mirrors Edge from EA week earlier.

I finished up with:

CoD Pack
GTA 4
Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising
Civ 4 complete
Trine

Looking forward to giving some of them a run here in the fall. All in all a decent sale, I was disappointed in a few of the sales, or lack there of, but I'm happy with what I got.
