the lesson is ultimately just that price checking is important.
I picked up the digital version of Dragon Age: Awakenings for $15 from Amazon last week, versus $30 on Steam
It's funny, you reminded me of my (lack of) experience with Awakening. I loved the original Dragon Age and was very happy the expansion was coming out. I bought the original on Steam. When I tried to buy the expansion, I noticed it was 30% more on Steam than other retail channels. I figured I'd wait it out.. through my own stupidity I missed the Xmas sale, and currently it's twice as much on Steam as other retail channels. Bioware have confirmed you need the Steam expansion for the Steam original....
I generally find Steam to be somewhat cheaper than walmart.
My issue isnt with their prices, its with their bullshit. The whole idea behind Steam is to make games easier to get and play. With all the GFWL and YuPlay and sorry fucking Gamespy requirements, JUST TO PLAY A LOT OF TITLES OFFLINE, its becoming a piss poor investment to purchase Steam games.
Fuck Valve, they arent getting any more money from me. I dont care how awesome the deal is, if I cant play the god damn game its a rip off.
I think this is the problem when suppliers determine the prices and the vendors have no say.I agree w\ this thread.
How can they charge $59.99 for new releases when most places will have promo's around release and you can often get away w\ $35-40 depending on the game...
With the new internet caps in Canada, steam is not an option at all....
