I didn't think Steam prices were that bad at all but I didn't shop around a ton either; convenience wins me over rather that spending a few bucks less.
I dunno what GFWL and YuPlay are but I've never seen them on Steam (37 games)... must be game specific?
Yeah, games like for example GTA4, DoW2, Batman AA all use GFWL. You need to make an account (basically it is Xbox Live tie in for the PC) and have to log into that account to play the game. The game isn't tied to the account but you are required to log into the account still, double fucking worthless.
You need to realize too that the steam delivery system puts in the game in your lap in a few hours.. you don't have to leave your chair to go purchase a game or wait a few days for it to be shipped. At some rate it's a cost of convenience.

Yup, don't have to worry about Missing or Damaged Disks or even if you're using your Computer, or that your at Home, or even in the same Country, or the same Continent, Hell, one day you could be on another Planet and still Play the Games you bought off Steam.
Yeah, assuming you have internet on said other planet, or you made sure everything was downloaded and up to date and set Steam to offline mode before you left.

What are you talking about with this activation?I just don't like that online mode takes forever to activate and that Steam makes modding of even Half Life 1 harder. I haven't looked into how to get sven coop to work with steam Half Life, but it won't because of Steam. Lamage.

I'm also guarunteed to have my CE on the day Retribution is released. I know CR did not allow me to unlock and start downloading until 11pm on release day here so I'm pretty much golden.
FWIW, CE contains all 6? different pre-order packs plus a few tidbits that can't be downloaded eletronically.
Steam prices in the UK are an utter joke unless the game is on minimum 50% sale, and even then Steam can still be more expensive even with 50% off than other sources (e.g. Amazon, Play).

I love Steam to pieces but they are on something wrong when they (or whoever is in control) do this with prices.
