Anyone know if the PC version is *crisper* if you know what I mean?

Yeah, it definitely is. The PS2 version had _terrible_ blur. The best console version is the GameCube version.

Only drawback to the GC version was that, due to the size limitations of the disc, they had to loop the soundtrack music a lot more frequently, and you didn't get the full songs from the soundtrack. Not a big deal, but the game had some decent music, so it's nice to hear it all.

I bit. Got a flight stick in the garage and my wife likes adventure games, so I bought this for her Steam account.

 Here's to hoping for another L4D sale. I need a second copy to do some LAN co-op play.

For IL2 1946, patch to 4.08m (m = merged), then head to Allaircraftarcade.com, get the Unified Installer ver. 1.1, (a very large install, broken into 5? 250gb downloads), then patch 1.1 to 1.11, and you have even more flyable planes, and many, many, third party enhancements in one install, that all work fine together. With the UI 1.11 ver. you'll need to have a comp. that can run "perfect" mode in IL2 setup, to see some of the terrain visual mods.

For online coop play in the IL2 community, download and install Hyperlobby, and in HL setup, choose the game Forgotten Battles, and point HL to IL2fb.exe. You must have at least 4.08m to join any coops in HL. UI 1.1 comes with a switcher to put on your destktop, for stock 4.08m, through the latest 4.09 ver. that you get in UI 1.1, guys in HL can help you with that, and what ver. the coop host is running.

If you get interested in IL2, there are many Squads that use HL, and you can find a Squad that fits you best, anyone in HL will help you get started with IL2 or with game/comp problems, just ask nicely.

Have fun, IL2 is steep learning curve for some new guys, but rewarding, when you get the basic skills down.

Edit: a little more info.

Does anyone know if the steam version of IL-2 has steam integrated into it? For example, can I hit shift-tab to access steam chat while in-game? I ask because I would like the convenience that steam provides, but I also like the novelty having the box, manual, and physical disk, so if the steam version is exactly the same as the boxed version then I'd rather have the boxed one.

4.07m I believe. You have to patch it manually.

That is a damn good deal. I got rid of farcry a while ago so it won't hurt to get it back.

How good is Dark Messiah?

Dark Messiah is definitely an Oblivion knock-off. I liked the skill system better than Oblivion and it was much more focused on progressing sequentially along a story then exploration. I thought the combat was much worse than in Oblivion as the "strategy" mostly involved how long you held your left-click down for to charge up the strength of your attack. If you've played Oblivion then I would say you can safely skip Dark Messiah.

If you've never played Far Cry, I'd say to definitely try that one first, great single player game, I've played through it 3 times since it came out. Has some great combat mechanics and the graphics still hold up pretty well.

Far Cry's graphics do hold up fairly well... for a five year old game. But they're not as pretty as I remember. Everything looks like plastic and the detail drops off sharply on anything more than 20-30 feet away from you. Still, it's decently fun. Only problem is it's so hard to sneak in the game but it still encourages you to, and what happens with me is I generally get about halfway through an area before someone spots me and then I just hunker down and pick off the enemies one by one as they approach until they're all dead. It seems cheap but it's not a run-n-gun game so you don't have much choice.

Also started BG&E... fun times! I never finished this for PS2 and was partly distracted by the terrible framerates. Being able to use a mouse to aim the camera instead of a thumbstick helps.

Uhhh, you sold me on the Deal, but in 20 tries (Sunday night & this a.m.), using both FF & IE7, I haven't been able to create an account, getting "Your account creation request failed, please try again later". Is this a common experience?!

Note: This problem is mentioned in numerous fora on the web, but I haven't seen a solution. Changing my email address didn't help.

Nota Bene: Fixed!? Restarted IE7, used original email address, but chose a new account name. Finally created acct. Wotta crock....

Ta Daaa: And finally, after all the above merde, it refused to complete the order, leaving me with the impression I've missed the window of opportunity.... Does it get any better?

Anyone having problems getting Beyond Good and Evil to run? I keep getting a error to re-run setting application, but I cant do that at all though steam, or start, or in my programs, or anywhere except the first time the game started. I even went as far as to uninstall the game and re-install, and remove all reg files between, and it still wont pop that darn screen back up so I can see whats wrong. I cant even do a patch. I wanna play but it wont let me, what am I missing, or Im a fubar?

Sorry to hijack, just hoping some have gotten this error in here and Im missing something simple

Same problem I had - the enemies are almost prescient with regards to their ability to detect you at a distance, and they shoot pretty damn well, too. You'd think they were Delta Force and not just a bunch of scruffy mercenaries.

Try going to your games in steam, right click and clear private data.

in case anyone else is having the same issue I have found that if you try to create a steam account online it won't tell you that the problem is you're trying to use an existing username

I "fixed" it by going ahead and downloading steam and creating my account via the steam client, which told me immediately the username existed

Are you running Vista? Apparently you have to disable a few of the visual features for it to work in Vista:

People who want to open Steam account should do it trhough Steam app instead of web page. Seems like it works a lot better that way.

No, no vista, and found out how to get into it to get the setting screen, but it still gives me the error no matter what.

IDirect3D9_CreateDevice failed, Please re-run Settings Application

I re ran settings, tried all different settings and rez, no workings. I went and downloaded the latest sound, and video, and the direct x 9 update, still no working. I have no idea at all now at this point what to do.

Its windows XP 32bit, nothing fancy about it at all other then its a 9500 AMD Quad core, unless thats my problems, in which case I guess I will never get to play this game.

Wait, I will update if Gametap's BGAE will work or not for they have it on there too.
