BruhRed herring fallacy. Do you evenliftdebate bro?
Let's try this again. The claim was that gamers are not using Epic. That is factually incorrect. Profitability is an entirely different discussion.
It's funny. They've been giving away free games since they started and they are still decades behind Steam. Not even free $60 games can bring people to install that hot garbage.
Searched up Epic game store and it's still hot garbage. My point still stands.
The argument is that EGS is trash, not that people use it. OFC Fortnite kiddos use it, they have to, but everyone else snags free games off the service (a program which will be winding down because even with free games no one is actually going to EGS to actually buy anything) and then promptly forget about the store.
Launching on EGS is like launching into a marketing black hole. Everyone forgets about your game in short order and then has a confusing sense of deja vu when the game launches for real patched up and on sale on Steam where people actually buy and play it.
Steam has effectively become synonymous with PC gaming. I personally use Steam to replicate a console like experience on my Steambox (launch into big picture mode and you can use a controller from your couch from boot-up to shutdown) and that alone discourages me from picking up games anywhere else.
