I got a rice cooker a month or so ago and really love it. I use it to make white rice, basmati (Indian) rice, sticky sushi rice, and even oatmeal. Wouldn't trade it for the world

I dunno if this is good but I really hated the cheap Aroma cooker I got from Costco...it just sits in my storage room I rented now. Boo.
I do love my Zojirushi though...delicious and it keeps rice good for days (a little disturbing but delicious)

"Tiger rice" that's the brand?

Tiger is the brand, rice cooker is the name of the machine. My Tiger has a fuzzy logic chip in it, which makes it significantly more expensive. If you like rice (easy rice at that), then it's indispensible:

5.5 cup

10 cup

it's really hard to make oatmeal... isnt it?
I was thinking that. Oatmeal is pretty easy stuff... I'm not so sure I'd be willing to even clean the rice cooker pot for oatmeal. I make mine in a stoneware bowl in the microwave and then eat from the bowl.

We're talking about like Quaker oatmeal from the cardboard cylinder (not the individual packets), right??

BTW, Fujitronic???

Hey, it has a cute flower on the side... what more could you want?!

I want a cute elephant! Someone find me a hot deal on a fuzzy logic Zojirushi so we can violently debate why anyone needs a $100+ rice cooker!

This one will work fine for the less demanding rice tastes of the Western world. For those who want Zojirushi without the price, get a Sanyo. Most reviews give the Sanyo's equal footing with the Zojirushi's.

There's no debate. Buy "The Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook" with over 250 recipes for the rice cooker, and you'll know why.

Right off the head, 2 things....STEEL CUT OATS that are hot to eat when I get up because I set the oats / water in the cooker the night before and set when I want them done, and it automatically turns itself on at the appropriate time to have them done when I wanted. We're not talking crappy Quaker oats here. The other: making fresh applesauce by just throwing the ingrediants in and using the porridge cycle. I've made some fantastic concotions, including rhubarb applesauce. Besides, you have no idea the poached fruits you can do.....

That being said, an on-off type with steamer basket can do a lot a fuzzy logic can't...custards come to mind. However, I wouldn't trade my "cute elephant" for any other kitchen appliance.

I have a Sanyo rice cooker, and my dad has a Zojirushi, and yeah, both are awesome rice cookers.

Of course, both of them are also $100+.
