So, yea, after looking and looking for these headphones, I finally just ordered them off the steelpad.com site directly which took about 3 weeks to get to me from Denmark I was amazed by the look of these headphones. However, the look of them is the only thing I like about them now. For this reason is why I came here, to hopefully find someone smart that can help me de-crapify these headphones, if it's possible. The things that I just can't stand at all is the following:

-Sound in games are horrendously echoed. I can barely hear footsteps anymore in dod and cs. All the other games I play it doesn't bother me because I'm not competitive in those.
-I can't turn the feedback on the mic off. By this I mean when I talk in Vent/Sound recorder/or just sitting in Windows with nothing going, I can hear me talk. It's not super louad so it's not unbearable, just annoying from time to time.

The sound echoing is the biggest problem. If I can't get that fixed then I'll just be getting another paid of DSP500's, which saddens me since the Steelpad headphones have great reviews from top players and considering a pair of the best headphones.

Yes I do have the drivers installed and yes I've messed with every single option that the headphones came with. I've tried both the USB and regular green and pink audio jacks and the green/pink jacks lessen the echo, but it's still noticable plus the sound doesn't sound as good.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Maybe I won't have to buy another pair of 80 dollar headphones.

I realize this is a very old post, but I was searching on these and I have very similar problems. The biggest problem I have is that the drivers cause conflicts and I get BSODs when they're installed. I don't know what would cause this. Also, I have the same feedback problem that the OP does with the MIC, and I get a nice 60Hz hum whenever I try to transmit anything...it's wonderful.

Any help would be appreciated, I'd prefer not to have to spend more money on a headset, this one was expensive enough.

What soundcard do you have? If you have an Audigy or X-Fi card, turn off CMSS2. For some reason or another, Creative thought it'd be a good idea to have CMSS2 reverb everything. I turn CMSS off completely.

For the feedback issue, you need to find an option called "Record Without Monitoring" and enable it (or disable Record with Monitoring). If you have an Audigy 2, go into the surround mixer and switch the recording option on the far right to Analog Mix. A red plus sign will appear there. Click on it, check the box, and click OK.

I have an Audigy 2 ZS, so I only know how to do that with that card. Other cards should have a similar option.

Unfortunately I'm using onboard sound for my audio needs, the mobo I have includes SPDIF out and that's the extent of my needs, plus the sound quality I have no problem with. The onboard chip uses Realtek, and the only mic option I receive is to enable noise suppression or not.

Bumping because this is annoying. Anyone else have this headset that uses it successfully? The headset sounds great, but the microphone delivers a low-frequency hum...
