As a marketing major I'm jealous what InBev did with Stella Artois. It's basically a bud light product in Europe served at places like McDonalds, they market it as a fancy beer in the U.S. and hike up the price! That being said I've had it a couple times and it isn't a bad beer, just not something I'd rush out to buy!
seriously? McDonalds?
I so need to go to McDonalds whenever I visit a foreign country. They serve beer? Awesome.
And yep, see the advertisements and billboards proclaiming how super awesome it is, and I'm thinking "it's a pilsner... it can't be awesome." I admit I've never tried it, and I imagine it would be wholly drinkable and likely better than Bud Light. Whenever I want a Pilsner and a place offers it, I usually just go for regular Budweiser.
However, I rarely want a Pilsner. They are a great summer outdoors beer, but other than for mass consumption for the purpose of getting drunk, I don't enjoy them. I usually go for the heavier malt-focused beers, various Stouts and Porters, or some type of craft beer. Seasonal brews I also like too, as they usually are exactly the style I am looking for in a season. The taste and feel do actually help get my mind geared a certain way for different seasons, and I find myself very confused when I'm drinking a beer I normally describe as a summer beer in the middle of winter. I might get a mild case of S.A.D. in the winter, so that definitely doesn't help when I drink or do something that makes me think of summer.
