I like most of your picks. But, flicks like Running man, Lawnmower man; short stories written under his pen name, stray so far from the originals that I do not count them.
I did not care for Silver Bullet. Tommy Knockers I liked, but would have benefited from a bigger budget and adult content you get on a pay channel. The same goes for The Stand. I liked Misery too. Kathy Bates was outstanding.
I get what you're saying, but well that's Stephen King for you. Its why I kinda split it. Some of his stuff got translated and in some ways improved upon for the movie, while others didn't. Then again its not like all his stuff, even the good ones are exactly masterpieces.
I really expected to hate Silver Bullet, but its like Maximum Overdrive, its not a good movie but its cheesy fun. Same with a lot of his anthology stuff like Creepshow (I think he had a hand in like all of those back then).
Yeah Misery was pretty good and fits more in with the serious non-supernatural ones. It'd probably be the 5th one.
I didn't especially like The Stand, its watchable and I can see the appeal but I just don't think its all that good. It reminds me a lot of the Walking Dead tv show, only I found it (The Stand) more interesting/unique and without all the crap filler on Walking Dead.
I want to say I liked Tommy Knockers but I can't remember it at all.
A couple of really bad ones of his that I enjoyed:
Graveyard Shift (the one in the mill with the rats)
Cat's Eye (one with the little troll)
Then there's others that I don't dislike or really like. Children of the Corn, Carrie, Lawnmover Man, Needful Things, Pet Cemetary (I'd probably elevate this but I don't remember it all that well). They were decent but didn't quite take the next step for me. Running Man would probably be in here but Ah-nuld, the game show host, and I just think it elevated itself (in the so bad its good manner) enough.
I can't really recall the last one of his that I really liked. I enjoyed The Mist but I don't think it was a good movie.
