I don't want to give the exact details but a group of us like-minded individuals have had enough.

My house was broken into on the 3rd...my neighbor's 2 months prior. His neighbor the month before. We live in a nice neighborhood that had been pretty crime free for decades.

Got a dog, now the dog park I drive too is getting smash and grabs to the tune of 3 a week between 5 and 7pm...there have been people in the parking lot during these...everyone is just fucking clueless or sees/hears and doesn't want to get involved.

We have formed a small group now of about 5-6 of us that are watching and making phone calls. We have had the police pick up a few suspicious characters...nothing has stuck, but no break-ins happened those nights either.

We are taking it to the next level. Bait car and someone hiding out. Rest of us waiting. Really can't pack here as too many angles to cover and too many people.

I am bringing my Fox 5.3 and lining up a nice piece of wood and a rock....

I seriously believe that until the citizen's take a stand, crime is going to run rampant. Most police forces are focused on revenue generation right now (if not always) rather than targeting law enforcement costs.

True story, there was a new community that went up in the middle of a ghetto area. Most bought and moved down from other areas so they only knew what they saw in the brochures, videos and a quick drive through.

Anyway soon after there walled community was targeted.

One guy had enough and just left his garage open and knew one day someone would come.

He had a freaking machete waiting.

Some punk came in and started wheeling out his lawnmower...yelled out to a 'friend(s)' to come get more.

That was about he time where his arm was nearly severed off at the shoulder.

It's been about 12 years since and there is not much break-ins. A kid that lived there at the time recently was on a bus with students from the school that is right outside that area...when he said he was from that neighborhood...one kid asked 'that the same one with that old man that almost cut some kids arm off?" then others chimed in with embellished tales.

I'm no legal expert, but I'm gonna guess that baiting a criminal for the express intent of shooting them between the eyes is illegal.

not packing...not really baiting as much as forgetting to roll up a window with a duffle bag on the seat.

Not like we are posting signs.

I can't say I blame you, I'd do the same damn thing. There comes a point where you can't rely on the cops because they can be and are unreliable/focused on revenue generation whatever. You've gotta do what you gotta do to protect yourself/your property etc.

I like this idea.
Try not to kill or get killed. I'm sure you'll have some effect. Be careful of retaliation.

Best of luck to you...

Although your intentions are good, your method lacks some much needed logic. Regardless, this might be exactly what you need to feel like the good, law abiding, citizens actually have control. I don't see this ending well for either of the parties involved.

Good luck. You'll probably need it. Can we expect updates after a successful bust?

Also, I'd like to add that posting about this publicly here was probably not the best idea as it's going to lead straight back to you if/when you do kill or maim somebody. Just out of curiosity. . .how'd things work out for that homeowner who attacked the intruder in his garage with that machette? Most of the time from what I've heard, using lethal force in order to protect property when your life is not in immediate danger will make life worse for you than for the thief. I can certainly understand your anger and frustration and I sympathize but you're walking a fine line man.

When I was out running the other night I started to think about this. I'm kind of surprised there isn't more vigilante justice in this world. Seems like in the last few years the pressure on the common man has been the greatest it's been in quite some time in terms of being dicked over by the rest of society...petty crimes, corporate theft, governmental strong-arming. You'd think someone would have snapped and started hunting the thugs and bullies.

 to you. I used to have respect for what the police do, but over the last couple years I have become pretty disillusioned with the cops myself. The respect I had is now completely gone. Time and time again they (at least around here) have proven themselves to be worthless and lazy, and only out to collect cash for their departments.

good luck dude. hope you catch the fuckers.
seems like the law in this country protects the criminals more than law abiding citizens.

With the rampant illegal immigration this country is experiencing it seems that where ever you live Mexico is bringing the ghetto to you. It is definitely time to start taking a stand.

I hope the OP is successful with this project, but seriously man, DO NOT POST THIS ON THE INTERNET.

There's always a chance you'll be caught, there's a chance police will take your computer, and there's a chance they'll check your browser history and figure out how far in advance this was planned out. If you accidentally hurt or kill someone while doing this, that might count as premeditated and you could go away for a very long time.

On a totally unrelated note, I've always wondered if police would do anything if a guy has a slashed wrist which looks like a suicide attempt but he claims he was attacked. Would they really go out to look for some attackers who are part of a conspiracy or would they just write that off as another whack job looking for attention?

That really is pretty freaking sad but I think you're partially right about it.

I don't think that civilians should just be able to go vigilante whenever they feel like it but some laws are jacked and it wouldn't be bad if these scumbags knew it could hurt or kill them.

Just don't kill/maim anyone unless your life is threatened. I support the principle, but I don't see this ending well. Like others have said, sounds like a good way to start a gang war, and from what I know gangs usually don't give much of a shit about the law. Personally I'd bring a night vision camera so you'll have hard evidence of the attempted break in. After said evidence has been obtained, you can try to move in and scare the shit out of him, but he might be armed too, which could suck for you (as in death).

Good luck.

I hate thieves and would support the death penalty for repeat offenders, but I don't think this is a great idea.

While the gut reaction of "I got robbed, I'm gonna try to catch the fuckers and punish them" FEELS great, you're setting yourself up for trouble.

Either you catch the guy(s) and fuck them up...and get arrested for assault and battery (or worse) OR they happen to be bad-asses and either kick your ass severely, or even "bust a cap in your ass," and you end up in the hospital...or dead, OR, they manage to get away, then come back with a group of their friends to get even...

There are far more scenarios where this goes bad than where it goes well...

As I mentioned in your original "I got robbed" thread, my garage got broken into about 12 years ago and they got away with a bunch of stuff...really pissed me off. I'd have gladly killed the punks if I could have caught them. Was the approximately $15,000 worth of stuff worth going to jail over? FUCK NO! Been there, done that, and I can guarantee you, $15,000 isn't worth more than one night in the slammer, let alone several years to life...

There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with setting up a well-run Neighborhood Watch program. Your local police force may have some help for you with that, or these sites can also help:
