He's been stumping down there since last week I believe. Moore is an extremist. Strange is more moderate. However, Moore is more likely to lose against a Democrat so we are all pulling for crazy ass Moore.

Probably not a great bet, in fact the GOP has been pulling this for years. Nominate the craziest person possible and they still win in most red states 95% of the time. Sure you lose an election here or there that you might otherwise win but overall you still keep pushing the mean ideology further to the right.

I figure that either Strange or Moore will whip the pants off of any Democrat in Alabama.

Moore will still win in AL but his election makes problems for the GOP elsewhere. Karl Rove said he'll be a Todd Akin like ambassador for the GOP brand. Not to mention the havoc his win will unleash in the GOP primaries.

Repub leaders have been crazifying & radicalizing their base for decades, arrogantly thinking they could always control it. They've suckered southern whites every inch of the way.

In that sense Bannon is telling them the truth-

Bannon said mainstream Republicans behind Strange's campaign regard Alabama voters as “a pack of morons. They think you’re nothing but rubes. They have no interest at all in what you have to say, what you have to think or what you want to do. And tomorrow, you’re gonna get an opportunity to tell them what you think of the elites who run this country!”

What he's not telling them is that he's playing them the same way only harder.

Bannon just wants to watch it burn, starting with the Repub Establishment. It's what happens when you play with fire- it'll get away from you.

Here's hoping they all tear each other to pieces in the primaries....

Probably but there is a contingent of conservative people who find Moore appalling in his disregard for the law.
All the democrat has to do is position himself as a moderate and perhaps he wins some of those people on the fence. The question really is will the democratic party put resources into trying to win the seat.

If Moore wins the seat we'll have even more mandatory conservatism forced upon us from a guy who forced his own personal beliefs upon everyone who entered his courtroom. Where will he display the 10 commandments at this time? Every time I see a guy like this I think of the scene in Porky's where the so called conservatives all got caught watching a porn movie. Shocking that they say one thing and do the complete opposite isn't it?

We just went through eight years of mandatory progressivism orchestrated by 0bama. One measly Senator isn't going to have any of you proggies being forced to color outside the lines of your communist belief system. Yet.

The swamp is being drained drip by drip and not by way of the methodology utilized through the iron fisted approach that has become so typical of the radical left. Unable to win through the ballot box, progressives dug back through their little red books and rolled out coercion, manipulation and manufactured discord. It's being rejected on a wholesale level.

As the right forces their elected officials to move closer and closer to the principles the nation was founded upon, the left feels they must move farther left becoming ever more totalitarian in the process. Keep it up, it's bound to start working eventually. You'll need to find a way to confiscate those guns though to achieve that final victory.

Roy Moore is the type of character I'd expect to be staring in The Handmaid's Tale.

Do words mean nothing to you? An administration stacked with conflicts of interest coming out of its eyes and ears is hardly what any rational person would call 'swamp drainage'.

What principles do you think those are? The right seems to have a very selective memory when it comes to "founding principles".

What principles are you talking about? Lets talk about stuff people can generally agree about. Stuff in the bill of rights and see what the right has been trying to accomplish over the last few years.
1) Freedom of speech? Laws discussed allowing people to harm protestors in several red states. Trump's recent comments regarding the NFL protest.
2) Search and seizure? Right continues to uphold police civil forfeiture and confiscation of property from innocents and forcing them to have long legal battles to regain their own completely legal property. Racial profiling in arizona (sheriff arpaio)
3) Fair and speedy trial? Right continues to ignore and even champion marked racial inequalities in our police and justice system that make it impossible to say for many they have a fair trial. Also, the right continues to oppose fair methods of bail eligibility assessment (often on racial grounds) again which prevents the likelihood of a fair and speedy trial
4) Common law trials? GOP continues to champion forced arbitration as opposed to preserving consumers rights to laws
5) Excessive bail? See number 7. Excessive punishment? Lets not even talk about the death penalty. Talk about this, in texas, prisoners had to sue to get air conditioning and won recently (guess being tough on crime means being unconstitutional right?)
6) Voting rights? Vote suppression by the right and unprecedented levels of gerrymandering to undermine the value of your vote.

That's just the bill of rights, the principles that are in black and white they are supposed to be upholding and that we all are supposed to be in agreement are fundamental to our country. It seems the right is all about preserving the pursuit of happiness as long as its their definition of happiness.

I'm still waiting for the explanation as to how hiring Goldman Sachs veterans, an EPA chief bought off by the fossil fuel industry and, of course, the rampant nepotism/self-enrichment from Trump is "draining the swamp."

Oh, right, it has nothing to do with "draining the swamp" or returning to founding principles. It's about a childish "my side won" mentality and living in a fantasy where anything less than far-right is "communist."

Who knew that electing Christian supremacists was getting things back to how the founders wanted it? What I always find funny about the Ouija board games conservatives play is that the founders always just so happen to have wanted whatever it is that conservatives want but decided not to write the constitution to say it explicitly.

If they had wanted the US to be a Christian nation they could have just put it right in the Constitution. Did they forget? Run out of ink?

You're telling me Democrats are voting for Moore?

Can Democrats vote in a Republican runoff election? Democrats are pulling for whoever is seen as less likely to beat the Democrats. Still very likely, just not as much a rubber stamp as Strange.

I'd be curious what the voter turnout was for the runoff. I know the republican primary was low, and Moore has his core followers that will follow him through hell. Luther had too much Bentley stench on him. I voted for Strange in the runoff, but plan on voting for Jones in the general. Best case scenario, Jones wins; worse case we get Moore out of the state. He's replacing Sessions, so I don't expect too much of a difference in voting.
