we all knew this was coming it was only a matter of time. I am suprised it was not by a croc it would have been a better way to go =\

Personally, I never liked his shows (he was too hyper for me), but he was passionate about his work and his showmanship allowed him to reach an audience that typically would skip past a nature show.
how much do you think he educated anybody? most claiming that couldn't tell you the average life3 span of a croc without googling it.

passionate is a fine thing, i just think there are better things to be passionate about. i'd rather throw my boy around and listen to him giggle than throw a croc around.

Sheesh, it's like Evel Knievel getting on his Schwinn to take a leisurely ride around the block, then tipping over as he is distracted by something on the side of the road and bashing his head on the curb.

I guess he'd tempted fate so many times that when his number finally came due, every single danged pair of dice came up snake eyes.

Despite his risk taking, I had always thought he'd die of old age.

I really liked his show and i honestly feel like crying.

maybe some of the things he did was stupid, but he was passionate about animals, it dosent make him a bad guy.

hes dead, why do some of you have to talk ******, let the guy rest in peace, havent you ever heard the expression "if you have nothing nice to say dont say anything at all"

No matter what you think of his show, or the way he put himself in harms way, he did a lot of good things for the environment on the side.
He certainly did far more than any of the whiners in this thread who do nothing but complain about his lifestyle, though that's no major achievement in itself I guess.

RIP. At least he died doing something he wanted to do rather than in a hospital or hospice bed of some illness.

This guy definitely deserves a Darwin Award. If you play russian roullette long enough, you're going to get killed.

the most appropriate Darwin award ever, since Steve visited Galapagos!

EDIT. I just don't get why he kept pushing it. He had 2 young kids, millions in the bank, a MILF wife, dude just do light work, and sub the other stuff out to co-hosts and stuff like that.

but not sad.

He was doing what he apparently loved to do despite no longer needing the money.

He did it his way.

Well done Steve
