I feel sorry for his family, because the dumbass finally got himself killed and abandoned them, but why are we mourning this moron more than anyone else who has died? So he helped some zoo's, that is admirable, but not tear-worthy. Frankly he was asking for it and finally got it. I don't see people making such a fuss everytime a police officer or other public servant dies; they did a helluva lot more for the public good than Steve Irwin ever did

But again,
for the family

It's deeper than that.

He gave, a lot. While public servants give, it is their job to give. They chose that profession.

He gave because that's who he was.

Bwahahahahaha

And as for "giving because that is who he was," I can't speak to it because I wasn't a close personal friend of his. But the impression I got was that he was a showboat who enjoyed the spotlight, with his stupid antics and annoying personality. I won't miss him, bu I'm not saying he was a bad person.

And you're right Eli, public servants choose their job. They choose to serve the public in a way that is direly needed, for no recognition, and no pay. Steve Irwin chose to "give" for his own stardom, IMO. He showed off playing chicken with deadly animals and it finally caught up with him.

Once again, I feel for his family. But he knew his risks and got what was coming.

If she asked me what I thought of him, sure. Would I go up to anyone who was grieving and deliberatly upset them further? No.

Just because my opinion differs from yours doesn't mean I'm a cold, heartless asshole. I'm an asshole, don't get me wrong, but I have plenty of emotions

He is portrayed in the US as a danger-seeking, careless risktaker, which is unfortunately an inaccurate portrayal.

He was about promoting safety when dealing with the animals, not to mention the thousands of endangered/hurt animals he helped throughout Australia. Unfortunately all that got to the US was the "Crikey, he almost bit me head off!!"

WHAT ARE YOU ON?
He's done heaps, he's opend peoples eyes to our mistratment of wildlife, and has shown us a way to bgin helping getting back on track, he died doing what we loved about him, so whats moronic about that?
It's not as if he did what he loved without knowledge and skill, he knew the risks, but also how to keep himself safe, and thats exactly what happend when he died, its not as if it was something comon that caused his death, it was an extremly rare incident.
You feel sorry for the family, and so do I, but what about Steve himself, he was only 44, and still had plenty of life left in him, he has never been able to share his knowledge with hs child, and with that they both lose out, I think we should take this event and think about what Steve lived for, and help him contiue the work which he started, so as to do more good for our environment, which at its present state is very fragile, because of the way, us as humans, have abused it.

Steve will be missed. I will fully admit that I often would root for the croc, snake, etc when he was in a semi-dangerous situation, but it was not in hopes that he would die. I just thought it would be entertaining to see the snake latch on to his nose, a croc grab his ankle, etc.

This accident is just so unexpected because sting rays are usually not harmful to humans.

for the family.

 for his memory.

Yes, he took risk, and ended up dying. But he can say he lived his life to the fullest. He has did more in a year than most people do in a life time. Instead of staying cooped up in the safety of his house like most people, he lived his life to the fullest. He lived every day like it was his last.

Also as for his work with animals, he has done more there many almost anyone. He is given millions of his money that he earned doing shows to animal conservation. Most of his money went to protecting animal.
