He's an amazing guy and I can't stress how much he meant to me in my life. He's done so many AMAZING things
___________________________________________________________________________
As I've already posted previously in the tribute thread:

"I grew up watching the croc hunter steve irwin and he was my childhood hero. He still is. It just tears me up inside to think that a man like him, somebody who genuinely cared about animals to the point that he would consider a bird's life to be more important then his, would pass away many years too young.
He was truly and man among mice and one of the lights in this world of shady people. I remember during one documentary there was a brush fire and he'd jump in before the flames reached certain areas and he'd rescue geckos and mice and all other small kinds of animals and bring them to a place where the fire had already passed. And then he would go throughout the places where the fire had passed and rescue animals that could have a chance of living. He picked up a gecko had true emotionally driven tears running down his face and said, "This lil ah heck just isn't going to make it but the least we can do is be there during its last moments."
If this isn't true emotion, true heart and feeling and love and compassion then I don't know what is. I'm willing to bet all the riches in the world that Steve Irwin wishes and wished the best for the StingRay that had pierced his heart. The StingRay did more then Pierce Steve's heart but he pierced the heart of millions and millions of people including myself whom had literally grown up as a child admiring him and his every movement and tear jerking, awe inspiring love."

So the point of this thread is not to once again glorify him but to bring up the point of the ATOT'ers who think they're badass for disrespecting and degrading his name.

I hope the moderators let me make this claim when I say that you should show a little more respect and alot less of your own ego trips.

They have meaningless and boring lives. Pity and ignore them. Steve was a great guy and will be missed by millions. No one posting here will be able to say that when they are gone.

Yeah no kidding, did this drivel need a new thread of its own? Steve Irwin cared about animals but the $4 million a year he made profiting off them sure didn't hurt either. In the end he's just another guy that died in a world where people die much more tragically.

I agree with you, it is completely inapropriate to smear the name of a man who has so recently died, especially after all the good he has done. Even if you think hes just a funny guy on TV that doesnt give you the right to mock his acheivements or degrade him after his death. I'm not sure how old the people who are doing this are, but I assure you that nobody under the age of 13 is suppsoed to post in internet forums last i checked, and if you are 13 or older and this ammuses you thten i would suggest you might have some emotional issues that need looking at.

I agree. He was a good guy who will be missed by many people. Don't down him just because he was extremely motivated and had the sense to make a good living off of a job that he probably would have done whether the money was there or not.

 to that. If we could get rid of say half of the sullen, holier-than-thou jerks who've never left the house, this board would be a much nicer place.

Having watched (often with my k ids) most of his shows over the past 10 or so years, it sort of feels like I've lost a good friend. More than just some TV star who bit the big one...but more like someone we knew...really well...

Just like the last space shuttle that blew up, nobody will care in a week.

I don't mean to be cold, but that seems to be the pattern. All of the sudden he was a huge hero to the whole world blah blah blah. His care for animals was very admirable and I'm sure he loved his family, but in the end hes just another man who wiped his butt when he shat. Why doesn't anyone care when homeless people drop dead....they never had 10% the chance to explore their potential as Mr Irwin, who lived a full and productive life? Which is the tragedy?

Well all of them are tragedies. I don't know any of those homeless people who die every day, but I'm sure that if I did their deaths would sadden me. I know that the fact that they DO die saddens me anyway, but not on the level of someone that I know something about.

I know Steve Irwin died, and I know that he was an interesting, entertaining, and passionate person. Obviously his death will affect me more than the death of someone that I know nothing about.

I know death is bad and all, but is his death really a tragedy? Wouldn't this have been his choice way of going? Doing what he loves, caring for and studying animals?

I have a great amount of respect for him, I always did. I think he did good work and I respect any man who follows his passion and lives his life that way.
I don't mean to knock him, but I honestly feel that it is very wrong to value animal life more than human life. I would not use that as a point to glorify him. He is deserving of praise, but not on that point. Just my opinion, not meant to bash.

While you're quote may be correct in that people won't care in a week, what you summed up on the other hand though is incorrect to say the elast. People won't forget about him in a week because of what you said, but because these days people seemingly have ADD. I just couldn't believe that people made such a big deal about the space shuttle crash in '86 but now they couldn't give a rats ass and have completely forgotten about it, I still remember it but I know people who totally forgot about it, so much as to say "whats that". Sad really..
