when I was an apple user (grew up in an apple household. I am the first major PC user in my immediate family), I almost worshipped the almighty Jobs. Right now, I really could care less. But as a windoze user...I LOATHE Gates with a passion. Now that I am a PC user, I find myself having to use more and more of M$'s poorly coded, buggy CRAP. The only things to come from M$ that I am happy to use are MS Word (some people may be confused by it, but I love it. very useful, and I do utilize many of it's features) and HALO. I only use windows, b/c I am not comfortable with Linux.

And who cares if woz was just as instrumental to apple's success. Even when put side by side, Jobs pwns Gates like no other. Apple has survived in a windoze-dominated enviroment and are now making a comeback. Any man that can keep a company going through the times apple has been through has more balls than Der Fuhrer: Wilhelm Gates.

Hahah... did you forget that Jobs was once fired from Apple for Fing up Apple so bad?
Jobs just lost it after Bill outsmarted him in almost every area of personal computing. Bill Gates has tremendous foresight and a great vision.... something with Jobs was obviously lacking
And without woz, there would be no Apple.

as others have said, gates was lucky. he didn't have foresight. Apple had foresight. They saw a future market for personal computing. when they built the first Personal Computer, and tried to sell it to IBM, they were laughed off with IBM saying, "Who would want a computer?"

Gates had to STEAL apple's code for a GUI os just to make his first crappy version of the same, and I think we can all agree that the Mac OS at the time of Windows 3.11 for workstations was VASTLY superior. Gates got lucky, and apple's marketing department got stupid, and that is how we are in the situation we are today, with an inferior OS ruling the computing world while the superior OS is the underdog: someone named gates got lucky.

No, seriously he invested in apple to bail them out of trouble and buy their silence on the gui issue. Bill pwns Steve.

But the joke was on Bill. MS later sold that stock at a loss.

And where is the poll!?!?!?!?!

You have any proof that he stole the code? Honestly, where are you getting your info from? Please read the facts on MS vs Apple before posting nonsense. Gates didn't get lucky. He was methodolical and calculative. Read the wikipedia post on him just to see how much he envisioned came true... people hate to admit it, but MS has contributed alot...

Yeah, Gates has all the vision in the world!

now correct me if I'm wrong, but this "man with vision" people are talking about is Bill Gates right? The same Bill Gates who basically shat on the Internet saying "it will never be important" Vision my ass. it's all luck, if I had Bill's luck I would play the lotto every week, be sure to hit.

I understand his quotes about the internet were made many years ago, but he had no clue as to what the net could become. I'm not the brightest apple of the bunch, but the first time I got on the Net (94 I think) I knew this was the future of computing period.

Bill sucks

Steve's the Man, he brought Apple back on track and conquered big chunks of the MP3 harddisk player market and online music market (I'm not going to use the latter though). OS development is good now...

What are recent achievements of Bill? Everybody's waiting for Longhorn and the next version of Internet Explorer. The quality of this products will determine who's the Man in 2006/07

WRONG. Steve invested in Xerox and they let him have free access to their research labs, which Xerox thought was useless.

Bill sucks

I agree that he made a miscalculation about the Net. But how about his pioneering of the CD-ROM, a computer in every home, the idea of generating revenue from the OS instead of the hardware. Now why does everyone keep on saying Bill was lucky???? It was anything but luck... he made calculated business steps to ensure his success... like shipping Windows to Japan before Apple did which helped kickstart the PC revolution.

Congrats to you for seeing the Net becoming the future of computing... but last I checked you weren't the world's richest man and the founder of the largest software company

I'd like to write in a nomination for the nice guys at IBM and Xerox that let Bill and Steve take down their shorts and grease them up. It allowed for relatively cheap computing to the consumer. If they had known what the computing industry would do if they could extort the money from customers, we would be bleeding from our wallets as the would try to keep an iron grip on the future PC market.
