Of course they should still after Howard. Howard gives them a long term anchor for rebuilding a team. Of course, Howard probably doesn't want to get traded to a team that is a few years from getting blown up.

Still, gotta keep things in perspective. At least he wasn't a money-grabbing prima donna as he could have made $11 million more in Toronto.

That makes it worse for us. Toronto loves Nash. His games are always a sell-out and we cheer him as much as our own team.

He shouldn't have even met with the Raps if he was gonna turn us down even if we offered the most. What was the point?

Kobe never played with a ball dominant guard.. we will see how it works. I dont think nash is the answer, unless Nash helps them land Dwight...

I still think Lakers will do the Dwight trade and send Gasol to minnesota for young guys, picks and final year contracts to help with tax situation

Love this move from a basketball standpoint. This is going to be epic stuff. Nash running the point with the arsenal of weapons that the Lakers have. I don't know how much Kobe can play without the ball but I'm assuming he is great at it just like every other part of his game. IMO this puts them right there in the NBA title discussion. The Heat's biggest weakness is the center position. Lakers have the most dominant center in the NBA IMO.

This is a mixed bag. He makes them immediately better, but for how long? That is an awful lot of picks to give up. You would think they would get at least one good young player out of that lot of picks. So for a aging PG, while still a terrific player, you only are going to get what he can give you.

lol I never understood what was wrong with following in Shaq's footsteps, he's only one of the greatest centers to ever play the game.

Oh, I don't really care, I just think its funny. Its also more than just the play though, he's even aiming for the personality seemingly (the good and the bad even) and then stuff like the Superman persona stuff.

As for Nash, he just needs to find his Karl Malone, or maybe not since they didn't get rings either. I guess that's why he's going for his Jordan (Kobe).

and the Lakers gave up two firsts and two seconds. Looks like their GM is past his prime too.

Lakers rarely ever draft high. They contend for titles, go through a few years of mediocrity and then trade to become contenders again. One of the advantages of being in an attractive market (for players).

This Nash trade is an attempt to maximize winning while Kobe is still playing, and I think it's a great one.

Those picks will be scrubs playing in the D league and will be lucky to ever see consistent playing time in the NBA. This was another gift to the Lakers.

But you also never know what gems are lying around either. Tony Parker was a late first round pick and Ginobili was a second. Giving up so much for a 38 year old PG is a lot IMO.

They'll probably end up moving Gasol or Bynum, they can get at least a first (maybe a high one) from that.

Well if you knew the back ground between Dwight and Shaq, you'd understand. Dwight USED to look up (maybe he does again, don't know as it hasn't been brought up recently) to Shaq, but Shaq bascially made fun of Dwight for the "Superman" thing saying he was the original and Dwight was a fake (something along those lines) instead of just saying good for him.

After that, to my knowledge hasn't wanted to associate himself with Shaq, being a dominate center for the Magic has already placed him there, but leaving them to goto LA would make him Shaq 2.0. Lots of people don't want to straight up copy what others have done before them, even less so after they've publicly poked fun at you.

Otoh, what better way to stick it to Shaq? Imagine Kobe talking after winning another championship, and telling the press "Yes, it's great having a dominant center who wants to win, shows up in shape, and isn't lazy."

That is one way of looking at it, however Shaq had a Kobe with spring in his legs, Dwight won't have that benefit. It's a very risky bet.

Even though I don't like the Lakers, I think this is a really good trade for them. None of the Lakers point guards last year were good at defense. However, he made Amare a better player, and he made Gortat a better player. Even if the Lakers stay put with their current lineup, I think Gasol and Bynum will have big years, cause he is going to get them open, and he is going to get them easier shots. Whether it is enough to compete with the Spurs and Thunder is still yet to be seen, but I really think they made the team better with this trade.

Ugh. Nash going to my most hated team.

I still want him to win a ring. The Suns arent even close to title contenders. I can't believe I will be cheering on the Lakers in the playoffs next year. Hell has frozen over.

On the flip side I am glad the suns got something out of moving nash. Suns actually have a young core now.

With the Beasley and Dragic trades Suns will definitely be interesting next year. If by some miracle they land Eric Gordon the team might actually have a shot at making the playoffs. Kind of sad when your teams ceiling is a possible playoff berth. ugh.

This - I think it'll be interesting to see how Gasol and Bynum will excel with Nash, Kobe will be Kobe, he'll his clutch shots when they need him.

Question remaining is Howard and the coach
