I was in Staples today and low and behold they had the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy MP3+ for $54 on clearance. I used an instore $10 off $50 coupon I got in my e-mail. Total was $44 plus sales tax making it $47 and change.
Your mileage will really vary on this one as only 1 of the 3 in reasonable driving distance to me had this.
If you don't have a $10 off $50 coupon, check around the various bargain and coupon sites.
Lowest I see the oem version for is $60 shipped so I figure this is a pretty hot deal.

Anyone know if there is any difference between the non-platinum Audigys besides the software?

Staples are very much in Texas, at least in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, there are lots of them. We have Staples AND Frys.

All of the Audigy's deliver the exact same hardware performance. The different packages come with different software, and as noted, the platinum comes with gold plated connectors. But you're going to get the same (great) audio performance from each of them.

Went to my local Staples(City of Industry) last night......didn't see the Audigy, but they had bunch of stuff on clearance.......all the phillips sound card and some Hercules are on clearance for under $20...lots of CDRW both internal and external on clearance pricing from $30~$80.....they also have the 40X burner on clearance for $79.........saw a USB 2.0 16X external Burner for $49....and it came with USB 2.0 card too....can't believe My eyes.....asked the sells if it's true.....he said yes.....so I took one to the register....and it scaned $159....but the sells told the register person to overide the price to $49, and I used 10 off 40 coupon......while I was signing the receipt, a manager came and check on the product....then he said "this is not on clearance" , so he took back my receipt and refund me the money......so, there goes my 16X external USB 2.0 burner......

You are crazy for letting the manager take back the card after Staples had completed the sale (Based on the the fact that they had aready received authorization on your CC and presented you with the CC receipt to sign.) I would have grabbed the receipt out of his hands and said ...

"Sorry, a Staples employee told me the price was $49 and you charged my CC account that amount and now I am calling Staples corporate first thing in the morning. If you have a problem with that then call your merchant bank. "

I would still call Staples corporate and let them know what happened. I will guarantee that they wil ship you one to your house for free. Even if you don't have the original receipt, you can still use the charge and charge reversal from your CC statement as proof. If you did not sign the CC return receipt, Staples is still legally obligated to give you your merchandise at the price originally charged to your CC. If you let retailers get away with such crap they will continue to act accordingly. I just completed successful dispute with my CC against TheNerds.net where they advertised a 20pack of SB Audigy Platniums for $69. They initially billed me the correct amount, but then later tried to charge and additional $1800 without my authorization. To make a long storey short, I got my 20 pk for $69 and there is not a thing TheNerds.net can do about it.

You shouldn't have gave him the receipt. You should have just signed the receipt and walked out.

The usb 2.0 external writer...(either the philips one or pacific digital..can't remember) w/usb2 card isn't on clearance. The employee screwed up, you can't overide a price of more than 50 without managers approval....the register doesn't allow it.

In this case, it is the employee who should have been disciplined. Write a letter/or e-mail corporate explaining the situation. Usually in this case the manager should have let you have it, and then written up or fired the associate. Casaul price overides are not taken lightly with the loss prevention people.

I know, I know....it sounds dumb to let them take it back like that....but the reason for me to do that is because the employee who told me the price had help me alot before when I try to PM......I gave it back so that he won't get in trouble......I can live without it I guess.......just got my 40X Lite on from dell for $45...:Q...happy already....didn't really want to argu with them.....

I for one think you did the right thing. HOT DEALS are about finding legit good deals, not about getting a deal at the potential expense of somebody else's job.

FWIW, I checked out my local Staples last night and they had a bunch of Audigy MP3 units at $99. I had them check the price to make sure. They say clearance items are on a store-by-store basis so YMMV.

called van nuys, ca (not clearance). they had 3 for $99
called valencia, ca (not clearance). they had 3 for $99
called woodland hills, ca (not clearance). they had 2 for $99

at all the stores, they are inactive items making freejack2's call correct. just have to get lucky and find a store that has them at the clearance price.
