Just so everybody knows, if you need to wait a month or so to jump on this it will probably still be around. It has been this price for about 4-5 months. I'm surprised it hasn't been posted here!!??
This is very confusing to me !! does this mean that this system keeps breaking down all the time and people return it for a new one!! is this how they have an unlimited supply of this refurbished system !!
If that's the case, I would avoid buying it at any price ! unless there is another explanation !

I wondered about how they have so many...I think there were numerous returns on the LFE issue which was a bad chipset that they replaced and repaired...or people returned...remember there may seem to be alot but the reality is how many people will buy a refurb..also you need to sign up as member to get the good price...if not it is $440 and I for one would not for $60 savings buy it..but $530 retail(plus tax=$30) vs $320 I will take my chances

I bought one last night night...

Also I wonder if these are all returns or maybe some new shipping to meet orders...can you tell they were "used"

They also have what looks like the exact same speaker/subwoofer package minus the receiver for $170. (SKSHT500)

Mine arrived yesterday. Getting it all hooked up was not too bad. I think the sound is terrific. Thanks for a great deal!

A friend of mine showed me a way to get more bass out of your speakers. Put some wieght on them, like a sand bag or stack of books. He had a 5 lb sand bag on a speaker and it made it sound more rich and bassy but still tight and clean. Try it, just my 2 cents.

I got this setup for my dad last july. The front composite video was DOA. *however* I consider this the best HTIB around.

I have over $2000 in HT stuff and I think I would have gone with this had I known about it back then.

A GREAT THING!

I bought it at CC for $500 a year ago. But I returned it in a week. The receiver sounds too harsh, compared with Pioneer VSX-D850 I borrowed from my friends. Later I went with Pioneer and JBL, much better!

Just got these the other day, the sound is incredible compared to the stereo sony system I had set up previously. I would highly recommend. Seems that the refurbs are mostly just cosmetically imperfect. mine had a scratch on the side of the reciever, speakers all seemed fine. This seems to be one deal that can't be beat.

I bet that's just to give the enclosure more solidity or better contact with the floor.

How much do they charge for shipping? $319 is a good deal, but they don't say how much shipping is.

Thanks much,

Word on hometheaterspot.com is that these speakers are made by Polk Audio, hense the RAVE reviews and AMAZING sound!! It is confirmed that Onkyo does not make them. And several people opened them up and, sure enough, POLK is the manufacturer!!

What a deal!!

hi i am looking to upgrade *don't laugh* Cambridge Soundworks FPS 2000 for my computer...I want to get a new audio set up for movies as well as just listening to music on my computer... I was tempted to get this but realized that most of the people are using this for their home theater setup and was wondering if anybody has tried to hook this up to a computer.

I'm a student so i don't expect to have a HT anytime soon...I was also looking at the Videologic Digitheatre DTS 5.1 set as well as Logitech's z680 and Klipsch's 5.1 system. My friend hinted that since the Onkyo is a HT system and not geared towards the use of a computer i may not be getting as much out of it...

just want everybody's input. thanks !!

My friend ordered the HTS650 on Thursday and it arrive at his office today. They shipped that ~110 LB. box with Fed EX express saver! :Q According to fedex.com, shipping a box that size from New Jersey to Louisiana costs $157 for express saver. I'm sure they didn't pay that much, but it still must have cost a good bit, especially when they don't charge extra for shipping. The strange thing, however, is that they shipped his huge box with the more pricey express saver, but they shipped the 30LB SR600 receiver I ordered with Fedex Ground, and I got mine shipped to the same office, but it won't come in until Wednesday

your soundcard outputs the same voltage signal as a CD player does... you just get a miniplug to RCA converter and use it. or a digital connection if your soundcard has one. this beats the crap outta any computer speaker system, no doubt. digital 5.1 sound is digital 5.1 sound. your friend doesn't know what hes talking about.
