I never played any of the Bioshock games, but I played BI thru it's entirety.
I bought and played it thru simply based on all the glowing reviews.

When I was done, I thought it was a slightly above average game.

I think it's worth starting.

I was a little disappointed. The atmosphere is great, but there is a point where for me the story started falling apart and I felt the game suffered for it. It's worth playing, but doesn't live up to all the hype IMO.

I loved it. Very immersive atmosphere with some good gameplay combined with a pretty cool story.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I thought Infinite stunk.

Had a really cool setting, but the combat was pretty weak; a sub par, mostly linear shooter with nice visuals overall.

Play it on the easiest setting, IMO. The story is interesting enough, but I thought the gameplay was below average. Some of the boss fights were boring, drawn out battles of attrition.

OK, I can settle for just a story.

I only need one really good thing to make myself enjoy a game. Either action, story, strategy, or something addictive.

I'm not an FPS fan, but I got it for free in my PS+ subscription a couple of months ago and it was enjoyable.

Haven't started it yet, but I wanna play Bioshock 2 first, although I know it doesn't matter.

I have such a huge backlog of games, Far Cry 3, Metro Last Light, many others untouched, GTA IV Ballad of Gay Tony, need to finish GTA IV Lost and the Damned, Saints Row IV, and I still need to finish Max Payne 3.

Depends on what else you plan on doing with your time? Need to visit the crapper? Probably ought to do that instead of playing BI. Want to troll some Ken Levine fans? Might want to play the game first.

I played BS Infinite first and then went back and played BS 1 and 2 before playing the DLC because I knew they took place in Rapture. There was nothing in the main BS Infinite or any of the DLC that referenced anything in BS 2 in any way (that I saw at least). I'm pretty sure they just approached it as if BS 2 never happened, since it was made by a different developer. Completing BS 1 would be important for the DLC though (and would be better for a brief part of the main game).

tl:dr You don't need BS 2 before playing Infinite, only BS 1

Ya I know. My reason has more to do with other things like the Art style and what not. Bioshock 1 & 2 are very nice, but Infinite ups the ante. So to avoid disappointment I want to do 2 first.

Sitting on my SSD, unused. Should I bother?
It's worth playing for the story & soundtrack, though it's also definitely over-hyped. Personally, I thought the original was better. Just the feel of the combat, the plasmid's & tonics felt better than vigors & gears, eg, "Bucking Bronco" felt lamely weak after Telekinesis, and the original's chemical thrower (napalm / liquid nitrogen / electric gel) felt much more of a unique weapon than BI's essentially "14 firearms that all feel exactly the same in actual gameplay...". No quick-save on BI also smacks of yet more consolization dumbing down, etc. Mildly annoying - I'd give it 8/10 overall. Worth a play though just for the story.

I didn't like it as much as others either. But it's still good enough to play once, especially when you already have it. It just wasn't as good as I expected. I pre-ordered the season pass and haven't bothered with the released dlc yet.

I thought it was a good game. I'm sucker for Bioshock in general though, so I was probably already biased.

Def. worth a play if you've got it already. It's a nice story with a good ending.

It had excellent art and atmosphere, and is worth playing through just for those. I did finish it, and that's not something I can say for most single player fps games.

The story goes off the rails about halfway through. The gameplay/combat is tedious and not very fun at all but it's easy enough to get through. They should have spent less on marketing and more on developing some fun gameplay elements.

I thought the storyline was interesting and the mechanics of the game were outside the box but to be honest the gore was over the top for me. Sawing someone's face apart with my handheld chopping machine and blood everywhere was a little much. Played for a couple hours and haven't gone back.

It was a enjoyable game. but i finished it just to finish it and get the story.

but it was well worth it. one of the best story driven games i have played in a while.

but after finishing it i deleted it. i just don't see myself playing it a 2nd time

I'm playing through the Burial at Sea DLC right now. It appears the DLC actually takes place before Rapture fell.
