For 90$ shipping it better do my laundry and dishes for a day as well. That has to be an error on neweggs end.

We Still don`t have the 7870/50 prices drop yet, don`t think it will happen until nvidia release gtx670 etc.

NCIX has offered a few models of 7970's at $499 during their last 2 weekly sales. There are limited quantities at that price, but at $499 and being In Stock, the 7970 is a viable alternative.

Waiting for the gtx670?
well the gtx680 is about 50% faster than my gtx570 so that is the very minimum increase I would want to go with. if the gk104 would have been released as a mid range card(as originally intended) at mid range price then of course I would have upgraded to it. I cannot justify spending 500 bucks for a gtx680 video card though so its looks like I will be staying put for now.

Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen!

Thats a massive drop and am expecting it to happen worldwide (eventually) including in the usa which in turn will make the 680`s be in stock. (Good news for AMD & nvidia)
PS here’s to hoping it happens ASAP.

I got like a week before my price protection expires, hopefully it happens soon. EDIT: checked on the prices, why is this HD 7970 listed for $640 :O http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...679&CatId=7387
EDIT #2: My price protection expired but that is the same card I bought for $560 a month ago. Odd.

Glad I bought our GTX 680 day 1.

Think we are waiting for nVidia to actually have some cards in stock before we can start a price war. Maybe AMD is losing patience with nVidia and is going at it alone or current prices should have never been! I don’t know but I think waiting a week or so isn’t such a bad idea.

I`ve seen prices fluctuate quite a bit even on current/release day for the 7970, so it’s never been up-to AMD am guessing

With the shift upwards in price for ref HD 7970's, I'm glad I bought when I did - well Ref models that matter (to me).

Oh well, gouge city either through vendors or the direct chip manufacturer. $500+ mid range cards for everyone!

The major etailers aren't charging ridiculous prices. You're being confused by third party sellers through amazon. Just ignore those like they don't exist. When amazon gets them in stock, they're MSRP (or at most $10 or so over).

Anyone paying MSRP isn't paying too much they're a fool!
Yes $50 over MSRP is ridiculous.
Those prices hundreds of dollars above MSRP are ludicrous prices.
No confusion at all!

That seems unlikely. Samsung just started producing 32nm chips. They're half a node behind TSMC.

Is there a difference between Samsung's 32nm and TSMC's 28nm though? I thought I read an article that they were fudging the numbers and the node processes are pretty much the same.
