First thing I did, after the first race or two when I could, was look at the graphics options, and set it to ultra.

So that wasn't something added, I did that about 12:30 day of release.

Weird. Either I'm retarded or my game wasn't working right I guess.

Ugh... the menus and loading screen and pretty much everything outside of racing is complete garbage. I guess Forza spoiled me as what to expect from customization and race types, because I cannot stand some of the things in this game. I really want to like it, because the racing is good and the scenery is nice (however, I am extremely annoyed Chicago has random smoke coming from the road. I live in Chicago, and this only happens in the winter).

I also hate that on occasion I will be forced to drive a car I have no desire, ever, to drive. Like some 72 Charger LT garbage. I haven't looked, or even played that much, but I haven't seen the place to actually customize your car's tuning and that is disappointing as well.

I can also not reiterate how much I absolutely hate having to wait for my fans to count up after a race. Why do I have to watch it tick each time. I don't care. In fact, I hate the idea of fans to begin with. What is this: Twitter racer 2? That, and when I am switching cars to put one of the lame paint designs on them, I have to wait for it to load. It should not take much time to switch between cars.

Grid is not Forza.

I am aware of this, but the glaring problems with the UI has nothing to do with it not being Forza, just that it is from the devs being lazy and having awful design. With the exception of real customization, all of my complaints have nothing in common with Forza except it does it better.

The menus are clunky, like the livery customization...where the hell is the 'done' button? Oh, you have to scroll back to the first option to even see it... wth?

But making us wait for stats/fan information is just retarded. Races load for me in under 2 seconds; yet the game is somehow 'loading...' for 20 seconds to show stats (not really loading anything), and you can't skip counts like the fans.

But, the game is fun and looks great.

I honestly have no problem with the menus. They're flashy, yes; but once I know where everything is, I can fly through them really quickly.

My only problem is the Cash and XP level up screen at the end of every event, where everything slowly flies past you and you can't skip it. Kind of annoying.

The menus are clunky, but no worse than any other codemasters game. I don't like the fan counter either, but I think that's at least partially covering up a loading screen. I will say though the MP options this time around are waaaaaaaaaaay better than in Grid 1. You could barely customize anything in the first game. You were always forced to play certain cars, or certain tracks. There was upgrading and no way to mix and match classes. It's much better this time around.

Does anyone know if this game uses servers or if the MP is P2P? I have seen some strange issues, like the AI lagging even when I'm hosting. Once and a while I will damage my car and the damage won't "register" till like 30 seconds later.

I've only played about 5 online races so far, and not one has been smooth so far. I start the race, heading to the first corner and then BAM! The entire pack passes me, seemingly at mach 5, and sends me into an uncontrollable spinout.

I never let off the gas, nor brake til that first turn... don't understand how they are going so fast, because it literally feels like high speed train plows through me.

Have you upgraded your car? There are upgrades now unlike the previous game.

I actually didn't buy this. I looked at 50 bucks, then I look at yet another racing game, then looked at the money again and chose the money. I just bought Need For Speed and don't play it. I'll play GRID for like an hour and then forget about it.

Actually, gaming is getting old. I mean, like all of a sudden it just seems really lame, like a *perfect* waste of time and money. I think i'm done, except for that one game I do like, BF3. I am at the end of my gaming rope.

It's a form of entertainment and like any other in the end is a waste of time and money. No "lamer" than watching a movie or going to the zoo..

I get it, I know. Believe me. Doesn't matter to me anymore. it doesn't matter how great of a blockbuster game it is, I look at them all the same and say "meh" i'll pass.

Well Im kinda underwhelmed for some reason... Grid 1 was one of my favorite racing games ever and 5 years of hype had me pretty pumped but something is missing

I actually enjoyed Dirt 3 more than this, and thought it had better visuals as well (love the way it has this sort of vintage filter with the colors)

One of the things that really annoys me, and this was actually carried over from Dirt, is the stupidly short size of the races... I dont know about other racing games but, Codemasters games nowadays seem to be made for ADHD kids or something, the average track length is about 1:30 minute

I just got started on the WRC thing and got to my first "endurance" event, and I was excited thinking "Finally something longer"... Then I saw the duration: 5 minutes

LOL! You call that endurance? WTF............. 5 minutes should be your AVERAGE race, not an endurance event

Does this game at least have the 24 Hr (minute) LeMans?
Its just so sad how all they do nowadays is take 5 tracks, split them into different sections, and then revert/mirror them over and over throughout the whole game

If you really like endurance racing you should give their F1 games a try.

I dont like F1 though -_- In fact rally games are my favorite by far, Grid is sort of an exception
F1 feels too "strict" for me, I like the loose feel of rally games a lot more, they give you a lot more freedom with the gameplay

I miss the days when Colin Mcrae Rally had 8 unique stages over 8 different countries and they were all around 5 minutes, now you have one track per country split over 4 sections, and thats about it, its so incredibly lame

You do realize that you're in the PC gaming forum right?? Maybe you're just getting old.

Contrastly, I've played about 50 online races now, and every single one of them has been smooth. (Well, technically-speaking, anyway. Can't say the same thing about the online racing community, half of which is completely rambunctious and not afraid to use you as a guard-rail through turns).

Ugh, I hate endurance racing. I joined an online endurance match just to see what it was. When I realized it would be 10 minutes of just plain driving, I groaned (but did it anyway). Then when I realized there would be four more rounds, I was like "nope" and quit out of the server. Too boring for me.

When I drive in any racing game that allows collisions and doesn't cause significant penalty, I always use other cars as guard rails and as quick ways to brake. I take the inside of the turn, and then use them to push me over. I brake way later than they do and take the turn more gently to avoid spinning out or drifting. It ruins them and benefits me. It's like a win-lose!

Did they bring back pit stops?

Grid's Le Mans aspect was totally ruined for me by lack of pit stops. Back in Race Driver 3, you could set up races, where the pits would actually come in handy, to swap tires, refuel, or get some repairs done, after a crash.

Also, they had flags in RD3 - I think those disappeared with GRID as well.
Sure, the driving was still fun, but it wasn't actual racing anymore. Practice and qualifying sessions also disappeared, IIRC.

It's a bit of a shame, that the best arcade racer I know is a ten year old game...

Get some older drivers.

Actually the 320.49 betas that came out yesterday seem to be working a lot better, I´d recommend anyone using SLI update ASAP. I still don´t get as much GPU usage as I would like but at least I can keep over 60 fps (or 60fps using VSYNC) at ultra settings + 4x MSAA at 1440p.

Just a note... if you want this game, but don't want to pay a lot for it, Intel is giving away codes for Grid 2 with Haswell CPUs. So, you can probably find some codes for sale for much cheaper!
