Here is my theory: Bad banking news from Europe sent some of the US Bank stocks down. This in turn sent a few indicies down that people may have had in their portfolios - triggering some limit sells. These indicies drove the overall market down even more. Once the stocks started to hit a certain level, more and more limit sells started hitting and caused a chain effect of selling. It was a high volume day, people were dumping left and right.

WOW... Last year around May, I made over $2,000 off this portfolio, the most in my high school. (Fake money) http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/5695/yikespi4.jpg Now... CMI was up around %40 at one point. (I didn't want to sell my stocks and get new ones because that would make more paperwork for the class... Otherwise I could have made about $4,000) Anyway... Stocks are really tanking. I guess now is a good time to buy, if you want.
