i think this is disgusting dont get me wrong

but there is such an outcry here about these bears meanwhile here we have puppy mills and even factory farms where things like this happen to other kinds of animals. for example, most chickens have their beaks cut off and are kept in small cages, one after the other, not able to move and htey just lay eggs. (they cut the beaks off so they can keep the chickens beside eachother and they wont peak at eachother). its quite disgusting how a lot of corporate farms operate in terms of animal conditions.

a lot of the products that we consume are brought up in terrible environments so its inappropriate to say its the "chinese" way because its apparent everywhere in the world.

It's sad. But poachers around the world are killing as many animals as they can every day just for money. I think many poachers are from the civilized western world.

There is culture conflict between east and west. Why do many Americans enjoy the Japanese Sushi? Don't they know some fishes are cut to pieces before they are dead?

I don't want the cruelty to animals, but I am not a vegetarian.

I hope this farm will be closed.

China. One of my co-workers spent 2 years in Shanghai. He told me about it.

so you "heard" about it. I spent 1 year traveling in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzohu and i never "heard" stuff like that.

i haven't spent a year there, but i still think it is a little suspect. maybe if your coworker had been spending time in the rural areas... but shanghai? i dunno

Actually he's right. When I said "its worse then dog farms" that?s what I was talking about (not the best way to put it I know). They import a special breed from the west (forgot the breed) and keep then in small cages. They are tortured so they produce adrenaline or something, which they say makes the meat taste better. The papers even had pictures of the dogs, it was sick.

He was stationed in Shanghai, but I think he travelled around the country quite a bit.

uh anyways yea this bear stuff is sick... so is the dog stuff. but what can you do? uneducated people... not much you can do except educate them... not like "don't abuse animals" but i think in general, the more educated a person is, the more they will value life.

I'm no animal activist but I see hypocrisy in these arguments. The whining about the eating of dogs.... just because it's taboo in American culture doesn't make it any better then eating pork or beef. People in India hold cows sacred to their religion, everyone leaves them alone doesn't even think they should be kept as pets. Imagine how they feel seeing how high and mighty Americans treat calves for veal, or even regular cows for milk. Unless you've actually gone to a slaughterhouse and seen it happen you have NO IDEA. It isn't the cleanest of places and watching what happens to the animals can be pretty traumatizing if you're young (happened to me). I'm an American and I find it embarrasing that we are so quick to point the fingers to other countries and judge what they do all the while being just as guilty ourselves.

props to you man, do you guys know that.. the slaughter houses for cows are prob WORST then what they are doing to these bears? the cows are literally lined up in a straight line and goes through machines that chop em up... and they dont even know whats happening... so why dont you all who think 'us americans' are so good and sweet because we dont do this stuff to animals... we do people WAKE UP...
