A Christian School Official Allegedly Told A Boy To "Turn The Other Cheek" After He Reported He Was Raped

The lawsuit, which names the prestigious Christian school and a number of its officials as defendants, alleges that when the boy reported the alleged assaults to the school, the headmaster told him he "needs to turn the other cheek," and that "everything in God's kingdom happens for a reason."...

...When the boy's mother learned about the alleged assaults, she went to a private Christian counselor, who shied away from reporting to authorities, telling the mother that "this is not how Christian institutions handle these things," according to the lawsuit.

Pretty sad that parents have to check their children's underpants for blood after Sunday School. Religion excuses all types of abhorrent behavior.

But you see, it's all for the greater good that the children take the hits for the team. /s

IMO, this is the attitude many administrators take when a scandal occurs in their midst. The reputation of the establishment must be upheld and takes precedence over all other concerns. This script has been played out over and over again on up to the some of the most highly regarded Christian schools of higher learning.

Predators lurk in the most unlikely places as that's where they can operate best. Taking advantage of the fact that administration will default to a defensive stance of itself and its staff is a given for these sicko's.

Robbing children of their innocence and turning the rest of their lives into a nightmare is as despicable as one can get. Yet, they're out there and as trusting as a parent can be of the ones they put the welfare of their children in, arming their children with the knowledge that there are bad people in all walks of life and adopting an attitude of healthy skepticism is a common sense thing to do.

Shielding their children from the evils that man is capable of by placing them in what seems to be a very safe place to get educated/religiously indoctrinated is exactly the kind of place that sexual predators will and do take advantage of as we've all seen and heard about on a shamefully regular basis. They seek positions of authority as that authority gives them control over our children just as we parents lecture our kids to obey those in charge without question.

This is the realities of life we parents must accept and deal with as we nurture our children and send them out into the wild.

Man if true that school is screwed.

Nice but sick pun if it were intended.

Believe it or not though, there are parents who have graduated from religiously affiliated schools that will, for one reason or another come to the defense of "their" school and go after the accusers with a vengeance citing all manner of suspicious behavior on the part of the "alleged" victim.

They will test the limits of reason and legality in order to help "their" school maintain the reputation and respectability it so deserves.

Too bad people do not use their phone as audio recorders when confronting schools for this kind of stuff. But i understand they are not expecting this kind of response, allegedly.

Perhaps this headmaster won't mind turning/spreading his "cheeks" in jail...

Unlikely?!! WTF? Religious institutions are by far the MOST LIKELY. I was a Christian missionary kid in Brazil and child molestation was RIFE throughout. I was lucky to get out of there with my anus intact.

Boy gets buggered. Told to "turn the other cheek." Christian Insertiveness Training, I guess, and a really shitty response.

Brentwood Academy's athletic programs have been a point of pride at the institution, which charges $24,690 annual tuition and has consistently produced top-tier talent.

In fact, the school's alumni includes 10 current and former NFL players along with other professional athletes.

Brentwood Academy won Division II-AA state championships in boys and girls cross country, football, boys basketball, baseball, and boys and girls track in the last school year.

The lawsuit states during the 2014-15 school year the boy, then a sixth-grade student, was repeatedly attacked by one eighth-grade boy, who had help from other eighth-grade basketball teammates.

Sounds like one of the southern schools where everyone is more concerned about Jesus and Sports than a proper education.
I'm leaning towards "Southern private school where sports is EVERYTHING trying to protect its athletes and reputation."

Always worth reiterating that abortion and such were manufactured as wedge issues when Falwell & crew got angry that the gubmint came after them with the IRS for continuing segregation at their whites-only christian schools.

Also worth reiterating that these people must be pretty certain that there's no eternal damnation for sins in this world given their wonton lack of christian ethics.

Isn't that why people become missionaries in the first place?

Ultimately though, isn't this what all wannabelievers are forced to accept? Whether or not you use those harsh words and confront the brutal notion that god wanted it to happen, that's part of the faith. It HAS to be. Kids being raped by figures of religious authority is either part of gods plan or god is an impotent slug who can do nothing. Those are the only two choices available. So while they might not like to think about it, for people of faith that's the price of admission. Deep down inside they believe that god wanted it to happen. The mistake here was admitting it.

As a Christian you are brought up believing that you should give as much as you could to God. Of course, since you cannot see, touch or sense God, you couldn't give your money to him. Thankfully there were plenty of Christian pastors around who were more than willing to accept your money on God's behalf.

That is the one thing that really hasn't changed since the Old Testament.....
Genesis 14:17-20: "Then after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley). And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said, 'Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.' And he gave him a tenth of all."

.... there are always and will always be humans to take your money on God's behalf.

Which leads us right back to the crux of the problem. God must want those people to rip off the faithful or he'd put a stop to it. If religious authority figures raping kids is part of the almighty plan then religious authority figures taking money in gods name is also part of the plan or it couldn't happen. Praise be!!

Institutional rape of the vulnerable is what happens when one stupidly pretends that men can go celibate.
What parents should do after their after they find out their kid(s) have been sexually assaulted is to go straight to law enforcement. The other thing they should do is to get their kid(s) into counseling, the real kind that treats victims of sexual predators.
